Wandering down the ramp around 0730, I see an airplane with several interesting lumps & bumps, including an antenna deployment port at the base of the vertical stabilizer.
Then the key to LOTS of info (including their FB page) comes from the intake covers: VQ4 (Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron FOUR), a Take Charge & Move Out emergency commo/CP outfit
This was posted on another website I frequent. It's a Bonanza landing at Oshkosh. The pilot hits wake turbulence just before touchdown and saves it. Unfortunately he/she elected to immediately set her down, and didn't notice that the left gear wasn't down and locked.
EDIT: After watching that video on something larger than my phone, it appears that the aircraft actually hit the runway during the "save" damaging the landing gear.

Tomorrow, Sunday August 11th, the day of celebration of Hajj (pilgrimage), which is also known as the day of sacrifice, when God instructed Abraham to sacrifice his son Ismael (according to Quran, Isaac according to The Bible), but then...
Quran, chapter 37, verses 102-107: Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said (Abraham): "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practicing Patience and Constancy!"
So when they had both submitted their wills (to Allah., and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice),
We called out to him "O Abraham!"
"Thou hast already fulfilled the vision!" - thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
For this was obviously a trial
And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice
This day is the second greatest day in Hajj after the day of Arafa (the previous day, the Great Hajj day), the day in which Allah (God) forgives all pilgrims.
Wish you all, and your families, all the blessings and mercy.
Thanks Anwar. A timely reminder to me that other folks have more important things to think about that the start of the Premier League season (UK soccer)
I’m not doing any aviation photography at the moment, or for the foreseeable. I’m slowly getting back to doing some photography …... and discovering how fat slow and lazy I’ve become …. oh well.
We recently went to a plant fair at Chawton House (https://chawtonhouse.org/) I’ve been at the benches again....
Had a rare treat yesterday, Chuck Thompson and I met up for lunch on the shores of Lake Weir in Central Florida. I suspected it would be like a meeting of two long time buddies and it was that and more. Our couple hours together was not nearly enough time, Chuck is a treasure and a Brother in Christ which is the icing on the cake!
Thanks Jim! How’s it going? We’ve had some rather unseasonal Wx over here. The plants in our garden have all grown like mad this year, so Thea and I spent a frantic hour or so propping things up prior to the gales hitting!
Last week we spent big. I got fitted for the first pair of new specs I’ve had in over five years, and Thea has a new set as well, having got the all clear from the hospital – post her second cataract. So Mr Zeiss is several ahead..... got to be done.
Chandler and I watched that unfold. We thought he was going to do the crowd the turn cross control, tuck a wing under in the stall syndrome, but he flew it on the ragged edge and pounded it onto the runway. Just about the same spot where Rousch broke his little jet in half doing the same thing, but he actually entered the stall, he just was so low it didn't have time to roll into it very much. I was standing there for that whole deal as well.
Hi Nick, doing fine thanks. Back from Florida and working on getting all the ducklings back in a row. Got to say that at 102 and a "feels like" of 119, my motivation is somewhat lacking.......... But as my Buddy and Reno Air Racer Stew Dawson once told me, "Wilson, now is not the time to show weakness.....!"
Thank you, but I just mashed the button, Our Creator did the heavy lifting. Last evening the air was still 100 degrees at dusk and it was super stable, like flying on velvet. I hung up there and watched that beautiful display fade to dark blue and slipped down to the runway for a pitch black three point, one of the best flights of 2019 for sure. This shot was 1/80th hand held and it's sharp as a tack..................
Hi folks, I can use some advice. I just learned that next Thursday, Aug 24, the Thunderbirds, Blue Angels, the British Red Arrows and 2 F-35s will be flying down along the Hundson River in New York in formation around 9:30 AM. I think this is a once in a life time chance to see the best of the best all together. My dilemma is, the New Jersey side will offer a spectacular view with the NYC skyline in the backdrop (if the jets are not flying too high), but the jets will be backlit, on the Manhattan side, the light will be in the right direction but the background (NJ side) will not be that interesting.
