I went to the MAPS Air Museum in Akron, Ohio a few days ago. It's not a large museum, but has a very nice mixture of aircraft from this glider to an EA-6B that was on active duty just last year. They also have very good exhibits focusing on those people from the area who served in the military from the civil war until today. They are actively expanding their facilities and are restoring a few aircraft in house. Highly recommended.
This is the one and only Martin Glider, built by William Martin of Akron, OH in 1908. It was launched by one horsepower, literally, as a running horse was used to tow it to fly it to 25 feet high for 200 feet. Mrs Martin became the first woman pilot by flying the glider next.

Sheila and I are still with Jennifer and she's taken a step backward this evening. I'll keep you posted when I can come up for air.
Thanks for your concern.

Just when I thought I couldn't possibly feel any worse.
Jim, I am very sorry to hear about your daughter, and (even though I am not religious) I will say a prayer for her recovery, (just in case I am wrong about the existence of "god").
I know exactly how you must be hurting at this time, and wish there was something I could do to help relieve the emotional distress you (and your family) must be feeling. I share your pain.
There were initial reports that the gunman was stopped by someone with a personal weapon. Apparently those reports were inaccurate, but initial reports (at least the ones I heard) did claim the attack was stopped by someone in the mosque carrying a firearm.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, our daughter is out of immediate danger and hopefully on the mend. Jennifer developed a blood disorder when Faith was born where the Mom's blood type or some antigen fights the baby's. This malady worsens with each subsequent pregnancy and when Hall came along next she had to have a transfusion and spent a month in the NICU. Anemia is a side effect of this whole thing as I understand it so Jennifer battles that. R>rising 5 kids pretty much by herself she has a tendency to run hard and not take the best care of herself and it caught up with her. Quick action along with a few days in the hospital and several units of blood, got her back on an even keel.
The past week has been pretty hectic, but I wanted you all to know how much I appreciate your caring friendship. Finally late yesterday I got to the hangar and spent an hour in the air watching the sun go down, unique therapy but it has proven 100% effective over the 45 years I've had the privilege of being able to do it.
Oh, I apologize for repeating inaccurate news (synonyms), the account I learned that from was a detailed and "credible" local DFW newscast but apparently not correct. Too bad it wasn't, one well placed 9mm hollow point and mad dogs like that evil idiot are neutralized, that fact remains accurate.

Thanks for letting us know Jim. Huge sigh of relief over here. As I well know, anaemia is hugely debilitating – but for the ladies – even more so. Please convey our best wishes and admonishing waging fingers as you see fit.
Thanks Laura! Yes, the female component took the whole episode over the cliff. You're sweet, but finger wagging has less effect on my daughter than it does on her father.............. If you can believe that
You know at some point in life one comes to the realization that there simply isn't time (and energy) to do it all. Fortunately I haven't come to that realization The work of these two young guys just came to my attention and it makes me want to hit the road with my drone.............

, I was agreeing with Nick who wrote the finger wagging part. While I was writing mine, you replied to Nick's !! Anyhow the finger wagging needs to go on from both of you.

The Lone Star weather is fabulous at the moment and the trees are leafing out more each day. I'm going to try to do another series of helicopter test of my aerial cinema system this week so I'll have all the wrinkles squared away when Spring has finally saturated the landscape with bright colors. I'm working on a second system that I can deploy simultaneously to capture an additional perspective. I think that will allow some very cool editing possibilities.
