It’s nice to see old friends and new friends and diverse work here. Thanks to you all. As per previous, I’m not doing any air show stuff this season. I hope our folks at RIAT realise just how unusual an opportunity they have – heat haze in the UK! Worlds gone mad I tell you.
Don't think I haven't thought of that too! The PT people say I need to work my way up to that kind of walker since it's a bit less stable than the classic little-old-lady type. My knee and leg are still obviously stiff, but the pain is already far less than before the replacement surgery.
I'm in Venice with Daniela and the kids (and a camera!), but getting nostalgic seeing photos of RIAT, Steve and Jan-Arie. I miss all the MATA friends I don't get to see very often. Hopefully we'll get the chance to do something about that soon.
With helicopter taking people to the first day of Farnborough International passing overhead as I speak, I'm still working through images from RIAT. I'm off to the QINETIQ car park (best place still available to view the airshow without paying after all the 'safety' closures following the Shoreham Hunter crash) in 3 hours, but time for a couple more before I go.
We'll have to get some crafty person to fashion a lens holder for the frame type then... snap it over the handlebar lin front and secure it to the lower bar for stability while walking.

My eye is coming along nicely, hoping to stay upright today. I'll have to see if that one spot still has a puddle of me left over.
It seems to be the right time to upgrade my MacBook Pro given the amount of on the go Adobe/FCPX/Davinci Resolve I’m doing on a daily basis. Just ordered the new update with a 4TB SSD, 32GB of RAM, and the fastest processor. Independent bench tests indicate that the base version of the new machine is 2.5 to 7 times faster than the previous iteration. Mine is a late 2015 so it should be even faster than that, especially loaded up. I probably do 80% of my post work on the MBPro. Thinking about getting an LG UltraFine 5K monitor to pair with it at home.

Well ... In my fine tradition of spending anouther man's hard earned ...... how about one of these?
I just read about that and was really intrigued, but then I read some technical reviews that kind of downplayed the advantage. This Mac had better be smoking on it's own, never thought I'd spend over six grand on a laptop!
Darnit... should have thought to say something beforehand. And I left Venice today, so I can't take your advice until our next trip in a couple of years. Would have loved to buy you a drink, Massimo.
I'm in northern Italy until 7/31; anyone who might want to meet up in Verona, Florence, Pisa, Portofino, or Milan please PM me and we'll discuss. I'll also be in Nashville and Boston very briefly between 8/1 and 8/4.
Some things become trite with repetition, others become classics and treasured memories. I've heard Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" thousands of times, and I've heard some sneer at Vivaldi in Venice as a cliché; but I'd never willingly pass up the opportunity to hear Interpreti Veneziani perform at the Chiesa San Vidal in Venice.
Also, I haven't posted an image in forever, so I'm happy to be a little more active again. If you're thinking 1/400 was overkill, imagine how fast that bow was flying if I was still getting motion blur at 1/250...

Having looked at the flying schedule for yesterday and today for Farnborough I decided not to bother - Yesterday 10 airliners eg Airbus x 2 + 400M, Boeing 737 & 787 One F-16 and Blades and parachutes Today - the same plus a 'flypast' by Typhoon and F-35!!! I'm going to watch from the Basingstoke canal on a narrowboat on Saturday (the only way to get into what is now a restricted area because of the Hunter crash) and will probably go to QinetiQ car park on Friday (Futures Day) and Sunday (when we were going to a dog show but spaniel in season). Anyway, some more from RIAT
