One of the things they missed in the video is the incredible sounds the vortices make in the silent air after a The Sea Fury headed back up to 10,000’. Charlie and I had dinner in Phoenix after his first Lone Star Fury show, he asked me if I couldn’t just postpone my upcoming California annual report shoot long enough to fly down to Sun’n’Fun with him and shoot his next show. I had. An architectural team waiting for me in San Diego so there was no possible way. On one hand I’m glad I wasn’t there, on the other I would have cherished just a little more time with him. I remember him talking about The Lone Star Fury and the exhilaration of flying his routine in it, 20’ To 10,000’ and speeds ranging from 200 to 450 knots, exhilarating I guess!
I called Ikan this afternoon, they are the creators of an impressive line of gimbals. They’re working on getting me one of their newest single handed gimbals for my hospital assignment. The unit is not in stock yet so we’ll see what they come up with. Could be a perfect solution that would handle the 1DXII, Z150, and maybe even the FS7 if I don’t load it up with a heavy lens. I have a hunch many more opportunities will arise for such a tool.
Addendum: Part B. they have nothing that will successful stabilize any of those cameras, at the very least they are prompt and honest, my gear is just a bit too heavy. Time to figure out Plan B.........
Tonight is the 75th anniversary of 617 Squadron RAF attacking the Mohne and other dams in the Ruhr Valley. Here is my personal tribute to them from Shuttleworth's first show of 2018
Continued progress for my right hand. Did hoist my D700 up yesterday to get shots of Memphis Belle celebrations here. Only used AF lenses though, wanted to take a couple MF lenses with me, but can't hold camera up with right hand yet and I'm not gonna push my luck. Weeded through the shots to see what was worth of a second look, so far about 25% warrant further peeking. Still haven't returned to work yet
Thanks Brian, got a few of them up on FB right now. The crowds yesterday weren't anything like the crowds for the Doolittle, but that could have changed today, too, since the exhibit opened this morning. I'll wait a couple weeks or so before I venture over.

Hope you heal up soon and am looking forward to seeing your pictures of the Memphis Belle! Wish I could be there this weekend.

My hat's off to you Laura (although I would have bet the farm on it) you toughed it out and shot one handed, I guess "You want the shot.........!" well done.
Just wrapped up a 14 hour day and had everything set for a dusk shot but a bank of clouds rolled in at the last minute and muted the light on the western horizon. Oh well, what can you do? Headed for the shower and my pillow, I'll try again tomorrow
Thanks Jim, yes, it was a case of "I want these shots" Right arm in the brace made for the chicken wing elbow that I hated to do, but I only needed the shutter finger on that hand. Also grabbed video with my iphone of the engines ramping up. A friend of mine who's the news guy for the local NPR station in the afternoon, for ATC, was there as well, and when the plane turned towards the runway, had his phone get flipped around by the backwash I just stuck one foot behind me as the plane started to turn.

Nice work Glenn. I was looking at our video of the two Bonanzas the other day and realized that, between both of us, we didn't think to have them turn their nav/strobe lights on. So many things to think about in an air to air, guess we should have reviewed Moose's book prior to launching ....................
On the subject of air to air, I may have a shoot in East Texas which would include a new Garmin Baron, the nicest Ford Tri-Motor in the world, a Waco, a Phenom 300 and a new Bell 429. Are you in? We'd probably spend a couple of days there just to really do it right. Do you want to fly or shoot with me? May have a Phenom 300 out of KTKI as well.
Cool, talk about a diverse collection of subjects. OK all, so if you had to pick only one of those for your hanger, which would it be? I'm kinda biased given that I have more rotorcraft than fixed wing hours, so I'd take the Bell 429.
