Went and saw ortho again yesterday. Good news is no cast, no break. Bad news is that I have to wear a brace and no lifting more than 5 pounds, and have to visit OT, for at least the next four weeks. At least I can wash BOTH hands again!

Happy 80th Tony! Thank you for your kind wishes!! I'm hoping to still be able to wheel land a T-6 in a 20 knot crosswind when I'm 80, so I ain't planning on giving up quietly
This was my old Buddy Charlie Hilliard's Sea Fury routine, using Sanders smoke generators on his Lone Star Fury. I was on Charlie's left wing when he lit them up the first time, we were talking back and forth and I told him to go ahead and fire them up. Charlie was looking right down the wing toward me in the photo ship, he lit the igniters and about 40' of bright yellow flame trailed out of the generators, there was dead silence and then Charlie's voice on the radio......"Jim, I sure hope that's normal......................!" The flame went on for about 30 seconds and then it turned to smoke, we both had a sigh of relief.
I just finished scouting my hospital assignment with the architects and interior design team, quite a project. The job encompasses five floors of state of the art heart specialized care from consulting, to surgery and rehabilitation. This is going to be a marathon of sorts because we have a five day (and night) window between estimated completion and the ribbon cutting gala, whew! Just to add an extra dimension of pressure, I suggested that we do 4K video as well as all the still imagery and they went nuts over the idea. Now what I need to determine is what camera best fits that need and what is the appropriate gimbal for it? Given the amount of work and the shooting schedule, I’m tempted to default to my new MOVI/iPhone X combo, but there’s just something that bothers me about doing that on an assignment of this magnitude, maybe it shouldn’t it just may be the perfect tool. I could shoot it on the 1DXII with a gimbal, it has 4K resolution with a decent codec, or I could pull out all the stops and shoot it on the Sony FS/7 which would be ok if it was only a video shoot, but a tremendous amount of work in this situation. The FS/7 would require a full blown MOVIPRO too, although I have the budget for it, don’t know if I have the time and energy for a production of that scale. Hmmm, better give this some thought.

An eternity in 30 seconds JW ...
the video is great —- and what a pilot —- the ground shots with the smoke plumes just above the heads of folks on runway are pure drama
