glen, i don't have a particular airport in mind. but i have yet to approach any major airports given my numerous encountered with skittish security at smaller outlier airfield and airbases.
i have learned to request permission or inform the local authorities in advance of my intentions so they can ignore incoming calls from concerns passerby.
for major airports, i'm not sure of the appropriate authority to contact for permission. is it the local airport, local security, or the local tsa directors?
i'm very surprised to hear that lax and dwf are photographer-friendly. perhaps they are used to having the congregation of photographers in public areas.
for me, just taking photos at the top of a bridge spanning a shipping channel is enough to alert the local authority. the initial question after i am instructed to step back from the railingis: "were you planning to jump?" :-)...Show more →
Interesting. I've not done it that much but I've never had anybody say anything to me off airport. (And hardly ever in airport for that matter). Just know the rules and say yes sir / no sir / piss off sir depending on what reply suits your situation.

Just looked over the King Air images from today and I think they will be pleased.
Just finished the big annual Easter Egg Hunt at our house. I gets more and more challenging as they get bigger, and cost me a lot more $$$$$$ But it was fun.
I was thinking today as I was spiffing up the landscape for the festivities. I should get a group to come out to the hangar some Saturday morning for breakfast or lunch and just to hang out. How many of us are local enough that it wouldn't be a huge chunk of time to drive to McKinney. We could broaden it to local ISAP members as well.
