Being medium format, one can achieve shallower depths of field effects at smaller apertures. They gave me a 90mm f2.5 and a wider lens, at 2.5 the depth of field is pretty shallow, nice for portraiture. The screen on the back of the camera is like looking at an OLED flat screen monitor, very impressive and it gives you the feeling that you are really looking at your composition in dynamic resolution. Even with all the improvements on the X2D II, it will not be a "fast" camera, Hasselblad has always been a camera that forces one to slow down, compose and shoot. This newest iteration is obviously light years ahead of the old 500C/M bodies, but at 3.3 frames a second, it still isn't what one would call "fast". The Series II does have ten stops of IBIS, 15 stops of dynamic range, eye recognition and Lidar focus tracking.
I'm told that bodies and lenses will be in very short supply so make sure I get the essentials that are best for my subject matter while the getting is good. I'm downloading the Hasselblad "Phocus" App and pairing the camera to my iPhone. The menu system is pretty straight forward and the fact that it is not a hybrid still/video camera simplifies operation considerably. I should be up to speed by the time I put it to work on Wednesday.
First time shooting in evening at London Airshow. F-22 Demo team put on an amazing show as usual but the show stopper was the Pyrotechnic show by the Ghost Rider team.
Hot Dam cs3is..............Like WOW...Excellent work.
Douglas is going to be jealous of the evening shoot you had
Will be seeing the snowbirds down here in a few weeks and an F-15 "Sandman" shoot this Friday.
I got home late last night and spent a few minutes with the X2D, all of a sudden it occurred to me that the camera I have is, in fact, the Series II version. I was under the impression that the II was not available and I was getting a Series I temporarily..Kind of excited about that. The 35-100 zoom is not available yet.

WOW WOW WOW! Fantastic! I got to try that show someday...The weather for the Sanicole show in Belgium looks iffy, shower on both days..Hope I will still get to see something.
Still on the road, we are near Munich.
Tomorrow we will cross the border into Austria to Salzburg to visit the RedBull Museum.
And if the weather holds out on Thursday we will visit the Eagle's nest we will see
I resolved some of the problems with the 200-800 RF, in the menu on the body I switched the focus field all the way to the right so the whole screen is my focus point so to speak.
And on the lens I have put the switch in the control position so not on AF and not on Manual but in the middel position.
I have no idea why that's working, but nevertheless it produced some sharp photo's.
Maybe time to just read the user manual for once
Will be home next week so some example's will have to wait
Jim Ill hope your Hasselblad assignment will go smooth, curios to see a teaser if possible.
You can't beat that picture Jim.
Those kids are very fortunate to have you in their life and you are as well to have them in yours.
Have fun with that new camera.
James has all the earmarks of a great shooter, he was much more interested in getting to know the Hasselblad from the back side rather than being in front of it. My guess is that he was the first seven year old to shoot with a new X2DII............
Good idea Gero! He walked in this afternoon and saw it on the kitchen counter, made a beeline for it. I had to run him through the basics before he calmed down enough to sit in front of it for me. He looked up at me and said, "Papa, when do you think I might be able to get one of these...........?"
