Chandler spent the night last night because with school beginning we haven't had time to hang out for a while. He also wanted to show me his 16th birthday present which has been a month in the making. We went to HQ and put a two step McGuiars treatment on it. When he rolled out the finish looked a mile deep..........

Great shot Niall. It would be interesting to talk to the pilots to see what the flight characteristics of those tri-planes are.

And you know Laura, I'd do it in a heartbeat for you! Gotta confess though, I am feeling it a bit in my shoulders this morning There's a lot of metal on that truck! Chandler did his part though. When we were just about finished with the clear coat cleaner and swirl remover phase he stood up and said "Just about done Papa!", then I mentioned that we would be following that up with a nice coat of Meguiar's Carnauba Gold Plus paste wax................ He was a trooper though, when I thought we were all finished, he reminded me that we had not waxed the top of the cab. I gave him the option to do it when we came back from lunch, or another day, he wouldn't hear of it. His Mom told me that he had washed it four times last week which warmed my heart. Most kids around here think that's someone else's job, I'm proud of him. He's his own man, he loves his horses, doesn't mind getting dirty, I've never heard him swear (and his friends tell me that they haven't either), he cares about his family, and he pays special attention to his Papa. he's the strong silent type, not given to a lot of idle chatter, he's a good boy and 110% Texan. Those qualities are the reason he got a gift like that at 16.

We're both looking forward to our AFW 2017 week together. He may just get a couple of pretty unique air to air experiences under his belt this year. He loves "Mr. Watson" and "Mr. Grace", so it'll be fun as usual!

Hi Jan Arie,

I checked in with Kevin yesterday morning and he was good, then I emailed a half dozen Houston area clients to see how they were doing and if they needed a spot up here to hide for a few days. They were all ok at that point, but it looks like the rain will continue for several more days, up to 50" is the forecast right now. One of the developments where I have photographed a number of homes was hit by Friday's tornado and apparently the damage is pretty wide spread.

NAS Corpus Christi brought a lot of their planes up to Fort Worth Alliance until things shake out down there. The guys at AFW have lots of military experience and give everyone the red carpet treatment.

Here in the DFW area we are just getting on and off bands of showers, light winds, we're not going to see anything much from this. Coastal living has lost much of it's appeal to me over the years. I'd much prefer to go, have a great time and jet out. Of course we have tornado alley up here so pick your poison.

Based on a couple of photographs I've seen over the past couple of days, there's going to be a lot of "used" boats and parts for sale in the coming months. One shot showed a very large boat storage facility, you know, the kind where it's multi story and they pull your boat out with a big fork lift type thingy. Hundreds of boats were stacked on top of each other and in various stages of falling down.

Here is the problem with the flooding. (BTW, or Governor tried to get people in Houston to evacuate last Friday because of the future forecast, but the Houston emergency coordinators nixed the Governor's request.) As you can see from the forecast, there is a lot more rain coming, and the forecast includes at least 50% chance of rain following next week! Oh, and it looks like Louisiana is next.

I've felt like that when I did three cars in one day. I think the killer was the Sunfire, since it's so low to the ground.

Put in to pick up yet another day, so if that's approved, my next day off will be Friday. I finally got to wash my car after the trip east, as every day off was a rainy day for quite a while. I'll have to rewash and finish getting the rest of the bugs off the front end

Couple shots from last year.

Tragedy unfolding in this storm, and truth is there is no good answer. I see the media trying to rip the mayor for pointing out that 6.5 million people trying flee by car is a recipe for massive disaster.

RE the boats Jim, yer right ... "Coming soon to a Craigslist near you ..."

My brother in Sugarland, SW of Houston, is watching the lake behind his house. It's already covered the dock and sea wall and has begun creeping towards the house. It's going to be a nerve wracking few days until the rain stops.

We still have a couple of family groups and friends in the Houston area getting hit pretty hard. My wife and i tried to get them to come to the farm for a relaxing week. No one would leave their home. I understand, it's a Texas thing. You stay to take care of your property, I know because i did the same thing...which is why I have a daughter living in Phoenix where they don't have hurricanes. What a mess no one could have prevented!
