Haven't posted a sports photo in a while. This girl pitches for Milissa high school softball (the school is a few miles north of Allen and McKinney, TX). Milissa played one of our local teams, Lake Belton. Milissa is ranked #1 in Texas 5A girls softball, Lake Belton is #5. Milissa's record was 34-0. They outscore their opponents 446-30. Tonight Lake Belton (now 35-2) beat Milissa 2-0. This is a best of 3 series that will continue Friday night. The winner gets a spot in the Texas State Championship.
Is that delivery legal?? I'm not an expert......A hop, leap or jump is when the pivot foot comes up off the pitcher’s plate while the other foot is still in the air. When the pivot foot comes up and off the pitching plate and lands in front of the pitching plate rather than dragging away, it is a violation. Any part of your delivery that results in your pivot foot coming off the ground before the other (non pivot) foot lands is a violation. When both feet are airborne at the same time, it is classified as a leap, no matter how small. Any space under the pivot foot higher than the level of the ground is a violation.
Hello Bob, thanks for asking, that is a good question because they changed the rule in 2024. I looked it up and this is what I found:
3. During the Delivery
Feet Movement:
Pivot Foot:
-As of the 2024 NFHS rule changes, the pivot foot may disengage from the playing surface (become airborne) during the delivery, provided it does not replant prior to the pitch. This means both feet can be off the ground simultaneously as long as the pitcher does not push off from a point other than the pitcher’s plate (a replant violation).
-Previously, the pivot foot had to remain in contact with the ground, but this rule was relaxed to allow more flexibility in delivery.
-A replant is defined as pushing off the playing surface from anywhere other than the pitcher’s plate before delivering the pitch, which is illegal.
Ed Nash does a great job on his YouTube channel with interwar and early WWII planes and has a good segment on it. Just search "Fokker D.XXI" (can't link it on this site).

For those interested, I attached the Sidewinder low level route which includes points A through M. For clarification, the references to Jedi Transition, Star Wars Canyon and Rainbow Canyon are all referring to section point C to point J. This is what Kevin and I are referring to when discussing altitude restrictions due to the crash in 2019. For low shots nowdays, spotters are in other locations along the Sidewinder with some being quite the hike as Kevin noted. The good old days of easy access shooting in Star Wars Canyon are over.
Got an O'Dark Thirty wake up in the am to meet up with Boydo. We have a KC135 and a gaggle of F35's to shoot tomorrow. Boydo is going on the tanker and Chandler and I are handling the runway perspectives. Rumor has it that there is a beer/pizza call in the squad room after recovery. A select group of POW's will be accompanying Jeremy on the refueling mission.
I don't know if any has a hankering for a mint R5C decked out with a cage and a battery pack. I'm going to sell it and pick up a third R5II. Let me know, it's going on Buy&Sell in a day or two. No tariff's..........

I have a plan in place now. I will get the 24-105 Z now, then, when football and volleyball begin I will add the RF 70-200 and RF 100-500. I will keep my EF 300/1.4 Extender for soccer in the dungeons. It is going to hard to let go that 100-400 workhorse. But, even castles became obsolete.
Hi Ray,
you may know this already, but none of the RF80-200 lenses will take the 1.4 converter. Not sure if you had used that combo, but wanted to make you aware of that limitation.
Thanks for the info. I wouldn't use the extender on the 70-200. But thank you because I didn't know that.
Apparently the new RF70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM Z does support the extenders. From the Canon page:
Expanding the Hybrid RF Zoom lens series, we are proud to introduce the RF70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM Z lens – an internal zooming and focusing model, supporting the use of RF Extender 1.4x and 2x throughout the 70-200 zoom range. this lens is an incredible telephoto zoom solution for many different applications.
Hi Ray,
I don't think they had released the Z version when I looked into it, or I wasn't aware of it, but it was the one thing that had me hang on to my EF 70-200, rather than get the 2.8 or 4.0 R version, as I often used it with the 1.4x at my son's college swim meets.

POW's from what war Jim?
I had the opportunity to speak at the Virginia Military Institute years ago along with my fellow combat buddy, Tony Nadal.
There were 5 Vietnam era pow's present also and they spoke. I still keep in touch with one of the very 1st POW's and a "guest" at the Hanoi Hilton for many years, Everett Alvarez, Jr. 4th from the left.
A picture is worth much more than 1,000 words..........This is a gentleman who was shot down in a Phantom , spent a lot of time as a POW in Hanoi, he is mesmerizing a group of current day fighter pilots in the 457th squadron bar, just a priceless moment!
