Dan, to watch the love, respect and reverence showered on those POW's by the men and women of the 457th was one of the most humbling experiences I have ever had. I wouldn't trade that day for anything and neither would Chandler. Watching one of my Grandson's mixing it up with that group of people was indescribable. None of this would have been possible had my good friend Lt. Col. (Ret.) Jeremy Boyd not invited us into his world years ago. Grateful as I am for that, my gratitude pales in comparison to how thankful I am for Jeremy's friendship. There are few people who I respect and admire more.

Another fun Car & Airoplane weekend-
Might be making some parts for a F-117 in a museum as well, pretty neat to see again.
WOW!!!!! #1 is a "killer" shot Bill!!!!!
Reminds me of what out combat military "drivers" would do to the "jihadists" to scare the carp out of them!

Thanks Dan,
Photoshopped the clouds but weather was terrible, cloudy and a little wet...Left before show was over so i didn't get soaked like last year...The F-35 practice runs Friday morning set off the car alarms in the hotel parking lot, 3X...

Jim,
It is a bond most "civilians" never realize yet wonder why "we" run towards the conflict instead of hide...The bond is especially strong among veterans of any era.
This is a reason why I enjoy speaking at military institutions. You have a captive audience that understands.
Glad you had a GREAT time!
I will post a photo taken at the Laotion border in 1968 just after the TET Offensive....POW's on ANY side show their resilience, hope and gallantry to survive. These NVA troopers were being exchanged for some ARVN rangers that were captured. They obliged my team mate and I with the "Peace Sign"..WE bought them a round of cold beers before we left them for the exchange.
We may be smiling here but let me assure you the animosity, albeit hatred on both sides, was still there. It was a bit of detante amid chaos. Gone now!
Dan,
I was able to see the parts ( mostly there ) of an Air Force Huey, I guess it is one of four around still.
I'll brief ya later on it's story but they were a unit with no markings, signs, dog tags or anything on it that went in to do a mission and hopefully get out alive. I think this was a two engine model as well. Hoping to make parts for it as well.

There are a few original UH-1E's and H's around here Bill. Mostly for "military shows". My aviation units used the model UH1-H(Army model) but the UH1-E was flown regurlarly. Models B&C were our initial "gunships"...
We can talk "shop" about those units in a PM/email...
Thanks!
Dan
I have a friend that bought a restored Huey from someone in Washington State. He went up with a couple of buddies and a high time Huey check pilot and they flew it back to Texas a few weeks ago. Thye asked me if I'd like to go but my schedule wouldn't accommodate the long trip home. They had fun though, can't imagine how many days it took them to stop shaking once they were home .
Rode in a TxNG Chinook (C-47) from Houston to Harlingen...for 6 hours. Somewhere over Matagorda Bay I was ready to ask for a parachute since the aft ramp was open! I just couldn't imagine sitting in those jump seats wearing parachute and combat gear. It was hot, vibrating and slow!
Sold my Mint R5C/BGR-10 Battery Pack! Going to pick up my third R5 MKII tomorrow morning. I have been considering selling the R5C for a while, mostly used it for an occasional back up. The other day when Chandler and I were on the F-35 assignment, and we had all three bodies lensed up and blazing, I realized that the R5 II has spoiled me beyond repair and I needed to standardize. The "C" will make someone an excellent camera body, it's a workhorse.

What a site!

I was there for the rehearsal yesterday, Dan! Looks like the real show will get cancelled today due to the rain.
Really tough lighting, the smoke just hanged in the air. I noticed even 400mm was too long most of the time from where I was, a 200-600 would have work better for this show. All the trees and light poles didn't help. I set up right in front of the section for ex Blue Angels and families. Always enjoyed their commentary/narration, which was not the same as the formal narration at the show, much more casual and informative. Yesterday they had an Angel from 2012 (?) and Amanda Lee (first female Blue Angels formation pilot, 2023 and 2024) doing the commentary. Folks were lining up to take selfies with her. I remember at the shows in 2023 and 2024, the announcement of her name generated the loudest applause. Interesting to know she is now flying on Ford carrier.
I got some opposing passes shots but the smoke pretty much ruined them.
Next stop, Jones Beach, Long Island this Saturday.
