Oh BTW, to my point the other evening, we are now tearing down statues of Christopher Columbus, which makes a lot of sense cuz he was the first Hispanic immigrant. But stuff doesn't have to make sense now as long as it lines up with the agenda. What's next?
What's next? How about ESPN moving an Asian guy named Robert Lee....from calling Virginia football games.
Makes me wonder how I worked at Lockheed-Martin for so many years with my last name ("Swindle") and my supervisor named "Crook" He would introduce us to potential suppliers with "We are Crook and Swindle, we represent the Quality Department!".
You have to find humor in all of this to keep from weeping. My Texan Brothers and Sisters will grin at this........we have a rather obnoxious and outspoken congresswomen named Sheila Jackson Lee..............she is famous for making ridiculous statements and not having the slightest idea what she is talking about. I'm wondering how the party of love, rainbows and unicorns(as long as your beliefs line up with theirs) will deal with her name? Fortunately, there aren't any statues to dismantle, but if there were, they would be in association with the Darwin Award.

Jim, mark my word, they will tear down the status of the founding fathers because they owned slaves at one point... As an immigrant (came legally BTW) who has lived in the US for 27 years, It's sad for me to see some of these incredibly stupid things going on here because it's politically correct.
Sad it is Douglas, we are watching the greatest country in the history of mankind be systematically dismantled in pursuit of an ideology that has not worked anywhere on the planet, but let's not let that get in the way. What these people don't realize is, once they have protested everything they can, eradicated the history that brought us to this point, that saw a minority candidate elected President, (who could have virtually eradicated the last traces of racism in his 8 years, had that been his wish) , once they have gotten their wish, all that will be left to tear down is their rights, their livelihoods, their way of life, but it will be far too late to reverse course at that point.
We had the most delightful August cool front float through North Texas this evening an dated light was wonderful. I scrambled to get some dusk exteriors of a project that I'm working on for one of the largest commercial real estate management/leasing firms in the world. They have a crucial presentation early next week and the weather has not been cooperating. That's not the point though, I popped on of my dozen 128GB Lexar CF cards in the Canon and it locked it up, when I tried to format it I got what I expected, "cannot format". So, I'm going to get the answer to our question about Lexar honoring it's lifetime warranty after it has ceased production of memory cards. Guess my move to standardize to Lexar media cards was not a winning one. Weebeesee.........

One would like to think that going for a large brand player would be a little less risky than putting money on a horse.....
As JW has often said active weather systems can make for interesting photography. These two shots of the Belgium F-16 where taken in the same display......
"…whenever the vicious portion of [our] population shall be permitted to gather in bands of hundreds and thousands, and burn churches, ravage and rob provision stores, throw printing-presses into rivers, shoot editors, and hang and burn obnoxious persons at pleasure and with impunity, depend upon it, this government cannot last."

Here's my efforts from Monday, in Nebraska. We elected to stick with our plan to visit Fairbury in the southeast corner the state, even though the weather was not looking promising. In the end we got high thin overcast for totality itself, and the clouds rolled in about 30 seconds after the main event, which is why I only have one side of the sequence. It was a heck of a sight though.
Totality
Prominences and solar flares in bright pink!
And a time-lapse videolet of the shadow sweeping over:
I sent some of my photos off to be part of this project: https://eclipsemega.movie - they're starting to put the video together now, so keep an eye on that in the next week or so.
An e-mail from a friend who is a retired US Navy Captain. Strongly worded, but not without merit:
My Grandfather watched as his friends died in WWI
My Father watched as his friends died in WWII and Korea
I watched (1sthand) as my friends fought and died in Vietnam
I watched as our friends and children fought and died in Desert
Storm...
I watched and waited while our friends and children fought and died in Iraq...
None of them fought for or died for any foreign flag...
They fought for and died for the U.S. Flag!
In Texas, a student raised a Mexican flag on a school flag pole; another student took it down.
Guess who was expelled... The kid who took it down.
Kids in high school in California were sent home this year on Cinco de Mayo because they wore T-shirts with the American flag printed on them.
Enough is enough.
This e-mail message below needs to be viewed by every American;
And every American needs to stand up for America.
We've bent over to appease the America-haters long enough...
I'm taking a stand...
I'm standing up because the hundreds of thousands who died fighting in wars for this country, and for the U.S. Flag can't stand up...And shame on anyone who tries to make this a racist message...
Let me make this perfectly clear!
THIS IS MY COUNTRY!
And, my making this statement DOES NOT Mean
I'm against immigration!!!
YOU ARE WELCOME HERE IN OUR COUNTRY!
Welcome!
To come through legally:
1. Get a sponsor!
2. Get a place to lay your head!
3. Get a job!
4.Live By OUR Rules!
5.Pay YOUR Taxes And
6.Learn theLANGUAGE like immigrants have in the past!!
7. Please don't demand that we hand over our lifetime Savings
of Social Security Funds to you.
If you don't want to forward this for fear of offending someone,
then YOU'RE PART OF THE PROBLEM!
When will AMERICANS STOP giving away THEIR RIGHTS
We've gone so far the other way...
We’ve bent over backwards not to offend anyone...
But it seems no one cares about the
AMERICAN CITIZEN being offended!
So, before I change my order, at air tattoo this year I signed up for 4 passes for next year. 2 are spoken for (myself and a friend of mine), one is tentative, so I have one pass for sure and possibly a second...any of the MA2A faithful want in on Mach 3 for FRIAT for next year? Looking at doing it as cheaply as possible. Rent a house and a van, etc.
Last May, I asked for info on shooting info about Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson. Jeff W. gave some great advice. (Thanks Jeff W ) Here are a few shots I got at DM AFB and the AZ ANG at Tucson International Airport while in SE AZ last month. Nothing spectacular but fun to shoot.
