Good news for any of us who are shooting Lexar memory cards. Lexar responded first thing this morning and my 128GB CF is on it's way back for replacement.

So, before I change my order, at air tattoo this year I signed up for 4 passes for next year. 2 are spoken for (myself and a friend of mine), one is tentative, so I have one pass for sure and possibly a second...any of the MA2A faithful want in on Mach 3 for FRIAT for next year? Looking at doing it as cheaply as possible. Rent a house and a van, etc.
Any interest?
I'm getting a Mach 2 from FRI to MON. Dependent on cost may be interested in a room for a few days if you have a spare.
The last few days I've been coming here for some respite, but instead I've found myself without and biting my tongue.
There is another legitimate side to these debates. I'm sorry, but lamenting the over-the-top political correctness that admittedly we have these days and associating it with the removal of statues of civil war "heroes" is just wrong.
There should be no romanticizing the leaders of the Confederacy. The fact is they fought in large part to perpetuate a system that enslaved an entire population. Their "heroics" led to the death of 620,000 Americans (that's both sides, who after all were all Americans). Essentially, they were traitors. Even Robert E. Lee stated that we should not build monuments, that the nation had to heal without those reminders. It's time they were removed from public spaces and placed in museums. Our history shouldn't be forgotten, especially the dark chapters. But those chapters also shouldn't be celebrated.
Ok, off my soap box. I'm pretty much a political agnostic, I haven't ever posted anything like this, and I'm not going to again.
Now, can we please get away from this and back to our regular programming? I buried my Dad on Tuesday, I could really use a pick me up.
Mark, my condolences on your loss. They say time heals all wounds, but whoever said that obviously didn't know what they're talking about. It's also easy to say try to remember the good times, but much harder to do, although in the end you realize those good times are what makes life worth living, and remembering.
Nothing wrong with your post, you are absolutely correct, there's just a lot more to this movement. Anyway, moving on. So sorry about your Dad, was that anticipated? Doesn't really matter, been there and done that. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I wrapped up the project I've been shooting this week with another set of dusk images. The complex is several months from being complete, but my challenge has been to make it look as complete as possible. Really challenging because all the drives and walkways needed to be power washed, landscaping finished and mulched, lighting completed. The weather added to the complexity of this project and had me on call 24/7 for the last four days. Good news is, it's done, looks as good as it possibly could, and the client has everything they need for a multi-million dollar presentation on Monday morning.
Mark, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know he meant the world to you.

Mark, my sincere condolences for your loss. Burying one's parents is a sad fact of life that most of us have to go through sooner or later but, man, does it hurt.
As for the other topic of your post: I'm with you. As fine a community as MA2A already is, it would be far better if we all left politics and religion at the door. Let's concentrate in the things that bring us together, rather than the things that threaten to tear us apart. There's more than enough of the latter out there already.
Nothing is going tear us apart, that isn't how we handle differences in opinion or philosophy here in case that hasn't been noticed. Because we disagree, we don't light people up, turn over cars, disrupt commerce, we just discuss it, or not and go on. That's the way things used to be handled in life way back when we respected each other as human beings, but that was a long, long time ago.
MA2A will never become a Facebook mess, because we won't allow it, but I still like to know what you all are thinking and have discussions on a myriad of topics, it's kind of what this is all about. I'd like to see one of two things happen in our world today, respectful discussion, where ideas are exchanged and possibly minds changed, or a situation where both viewpoints are equally afraid to say anything about what they believe because they'll be shredded. That only goes one way currently, and it's very "unequaled intolerant ". Certainly the respectful discussion would be my preference, but I have grown extremely weary of the current scenario where one group can Tweet/Facebook or otherwise decimate the other out of existence because they don't agree. "Tolerance" means very different things to people it seems.
On a brighter note, I stopped in at a place where everyone was happy yesterday, "Buccees". Never been in one before, wow! JR and I were laughing about what we would have said to someone who floated the idea of a multi million dollar "truck stop" that doesn't allow trucks. They seem to have it all together, never seen so much stuff in one spotless place in all of my life.
