From the sunset/evening show on Sat. I didn't stay for the night show/pyros/drones and fireworks because I had to leave to drive to Cape Canaveral in a hurry watch the SpaceX rocket launch.
Chandler, Weston and I are headed to Dyess next week to shoot B1's. Looks like the weather is going to cooperate. Kind of weird to have an air show on Easter weekend, we'll come home after Saturday's show and skip Sunday.

The Air Force side of me resents that remark.
There should be no resentment here "Mich"...All of us that have served, no matter which Branch of service that be, are brothers!
I was all Army thanks to the draft..in fact tomorrow April 11th is the 58th anniversary of my induction...What a shock to a country boy!! Seems like only yesterday....
Thanks for YOUR service!

I missed it last year too! This F-16 also did an A2A by itself , and with the F-35A demo. Of course, i wasn't lucky enough to take part this time.
Douglas,
I was at the Navy-Towson State(my alma mater) lax game and spoke to another photographer and if you haven't been to Pax River NAS, you might want to take a ride. Not that far for you.
The BLue Angels have been flying out of here for the past few months and are scheduled to fly to Navy's graduation ceremonies from there. Now this conversation took place in Feb2025 so things may change.
If I hear of any "important skinny"(slang for gossip) I will certainly let you know.

Your air photography gives me chills!
Dan
These are NOT some of my best images for lax.
Thanks Dan! I was at PAX NAS years ago for an airshow. I don't think they have had one for a long time. But according to Blue Angels' 2026 schedule, they will perform at PAX! My next show will be the Langley show in about 2 weeks. May will be a busy month with McGuire AFB, NJ, Naval Academy, Jones Beach (great lineup).
I picked up an RF 200-800 at my local shop this afternoon, just in time for a weekend of crappy weather. Even at 800, it feels balanced and a heck of a lot lighter than my EF 500 f/4 (I think the zoom weighs half as much). Look forward to sharing some images with the gang.
Jim, have you had any issues with the lack of a focus limiter on this lens?
I have to say it almost sounds weird to say local shop, for a number of years now, there has only been one camera/photography store here in Baltimore, and it's nice to give them the business. If you're ever in town here, pay them a visit - Service Photo.

I am planning to pull the trigger this glass. Would like to see your input. I know Jim has been nailing his shots with it My Only concern is the extreme temps here in up north.
Well, we are back in the USA after taking a slow boat to Rome. I was not afforded the opportunity to take as many photos as I wanted due to restrictions and such on the tours we took. Most photos were limited to the iPhone. With the rocky walking tours I spent most of my time assisting my wife up and down steps and rocky roads. But she was a trouper and made every step.
This was a passing shot of "The Rock" as they call it in Gibraltar from our ship as we entered the Mediterranean. Unfortunately we passed the Atlantic facing side during darkness.

They had a great airplane display there years ago. Not sure it is still there. It has been a very long time since I was there(2008).
A childhood friend who was a F4 Phantom AF pilot(retired Colonel) out of Udorn RTAB during the later years of the Vietnam war lives and works there so he keeps me up to date on things not published.
Have fun!
