Thank you very much Ray! Our flight from maryland to houston yesterday was delayed for 6 hours due to an onboard computer issue. we will watch the run this morning, and probably will go to the NASA Museum this afternoon. we changed the return flight from tuesday to early monday morning to avoid the potential delay due to the snow storm.
For some reason I forgot the run is on Sunday vs Monday. When you go to the NASA museum don't forget to take in the Longhorns next to the rocket park. It is an agricultural area owned by JSC in which they allow the local school district to use for raising longhorns. Some guys wanted to use that land to produce hay, but they couldn't do that because when Rice University deeded to land to NASA there is a clause that all land has to be used for educational purposes. Well, those ranchers (one was a guy I worked with who was a senior member of the Texas Longhorn Assn.) said they would mentor with the local school Ag program on raising longhorns. The longhorn guys got the land for free and the kids in the Ag program get to raise longhorns. Farmers and ranchers in Texas hate to see land not in productivity.
One thing you will find in the JSC area is an abundance of Tex-Mex food restaurants. Most are pretty good. It gives you an idea of what people in the Webster/Clear Lake area like to eat.
Took the RF200-800 out of the box the other day on the way home from an assignment. I shot some stills, but I was more interested in how it would perform capturing video. The C400 was at home so I put it on the R5II and shot some clips, handheld, at Founders Plaza...........(don't think I left anything laying on a picnic table this time). The afternoon was fairly warm, about 68, and the wind was blowing so it was a good lens test day. The lens did not disappoint at any focal length, good contrast and very sharp, just like it is when shooting still images. Truthfully, I hadn't thought much about it since I cancelled my order for one early last year, then Chandler wanted to test one out and the results peaked my interest. Unless one finds themselves in very low light situations on a regular basis, I can't imagine a reason not to have this lens in the case, it costs less than the shade on the RF800/5.6, and is considerably easier to wield. I'm going to be shooting the RF800/5.6 soon, and I'm sure that it will be a humdinger, but the 200-800 is a pretty great tool.

Hi Dan, we left the airbnb at 3:AM! got back to Maryland around 10:00. I was dead tired yesterday so we just napped after watching the run. Didn't get to see anything else. Prayers go out to the good folks who will be affected by the storm tomorrow down south.
Cold uh? We are at -8F heading for an overnight at -14F. Have the flannel sheets and an extra quilt on the bed this week! The Mrs. might even sleep close and snuggle tonight .
Hopefully the weather down south isn't too stressing for them, it seems weird to have all the snow going south of Iowa this year. Much of the Mid-west hasn't seen much snow and we are the ones prepared for all that white fluffy nonsense.
I read that all airports in Houston are shut down today (Tuesday) due to the snow. Glad we paid $290 in penalty to change our return flight to Maryland from Tuesday morning to Monday morning.

Stay warm and safe all,

Snow and cold was part of being an Iowan as a kid Dan! WE loved it and Iowans knew how to handle it!! I made mucho money shovelling sidewalks and driveways!
School was NEVER closed due to snow! I had to walk 1/2 mile to elementary school...(and with NO SHOES!!! ...a Midwestern joke!!!)
THis is the 1st true "winter" we have seen in Maryland in many years! Yes it gets cold, but very little if any, snow!
Mother Nature is giving the Midwest a break Dan!
Stay warm...Oh I sleep with my BR window open even at -2F last night!!!!!

JR and JIII are on Crystal Beach at the beach house, it's snowing/icing and blowing.Just clear and colder than Billy Hell in the DFW Metroplex. I'm like the post office (used to be), snow, sleet, dark of night, I keep on shooting.
Stopped by the lab this morning to check on my print order, they are on the final stretch ...................there are six tables like the one you see here and they are all covered with prints undergoing mounting. Pretty impressive display, looking forward to getting them hung. This is half of what will be an $18,000 order.
BEAUTIFUL JIM...Wish I were there to go thru them with you...Don't get too big a head now,
.
I've got an 8' x 20' wall/print job coming up and some other goodies in the works over the next 6 months or so...Gonna be fun.
Plus some drone footage as well.
