ANY airline that says they are "losing money" is either
A - Lying through their face and teeth.
B - So mismanaged that no one could save them.
Airlines are right up there with medical and insurance as some of the biggest scams and ripping you off things around. they answer to no one, and no one going is going to try to solve it.
I use to have some knowledge about the inner workings of airlines, I use to study SW because of their culture, management and their business plan. However, since DEI...it's a crap shoot.
I think it’s hilarious how many companies have announced that they are dropping DEI programs. They only had them because the government mandated it if you wanted to do business with them. They are dropping like flies now.

Did you know SW hired a process improvement consultant in the 1970s to reduce the time their jets sat in the gate. They told the consultant they wanted to benchmark the best airlines to be able to get out of the gate faster. The consultant asked them why they only wanted to be as good as the next guy. They suggested they benchmark the processes used by Indy race cars. I think they worked with AJ Foyt's crew.
Well, we got 8" of snow last Monday, I was looking forward to photographing Arlington Cemetery in snow, I did get there on Wednesday, the light was no good, I didn't even bother to keep the pictures I took. I did save one infrared pictures from that morning.
Heading out to Houston this weekend to cheer my daughter's marathon run on Sunday, hope the snow won't be too bad on Tuesday when we are flying out...
Dan, you know this red barn in the 3rd picture!

It has been 31 years since I ran the Houston Marathon. They had one special spot where I wish my wife had been to get a photo. It was around the 19-20 mile mark. The had some of the largest belly dancers I have ever seen. One came out of the dancing line (one of the largest) to hug me and ran for about 20 feet. Suddenly, my pace picked up and I left her behind. Good luck to your daughter. Great running weather. It will be in the low 30° range when they begin Monday morning.
I just applied for a geofence unlock with DJI for a shoot tomorrow and got a response from DJI that geofencing has been removed from DJI drones with the latest update. While I have somehow been put on a fast track for my unlocking requests, this will be such a huge timesaver from now on. Even though my requests get answered in a relatively short period of time, the hoops one has to jump through are still a pain. Occasionally you get all the authorizations and when you get to the site, the drone still won't launch. I'm so excited to see how this all pans out.
My shoot tomorrow is a stone's throw from the 36L at DFW so the proof will be in the pudding.

Good luck with your shoot tomorrow, Jim. This is interesting in terms of the recent news about foreign drones. As a drone flyer myself, it will be interesting to see how this works on the east coast.

Indeed I do Douglas!!!!!
I love the Shrine's barn and its pond!
I have not been there since they refurbished the Carroll Mansion. Need to get over there!
If you ever get a chance visit the library and the hallway(in the main buildg.) with all the paintings ...do it!

Great set Douglas. All the best to your daughter on her marathon race
Happy, belated New Year's to everyone on this forum.
Haven't posted in a while! First off, my wife and I went to Europe to take a Viking River Cruise, to celebrate 30 years of marriage, and we were gone for 21 days! That's way too long to be gone from home, and living out of a suitcase!! But we had the trip of a lifetime, memories that will last forever, and I took over 2800 photos. No, I won't bore you with them on this forum. Count your blessings !! !!
Was a rather windy Sunday afternoon a couple of weekends ago at DFW Airport and they had to perform crosswind runway landings that day. The ONLY plane that did NOT do a crosswind landing was the British Airways A-380. It cannot land on the two crosswind runways, as it is too heavy for the bridges it would have to cross over, once landing on either the east side of DFW and taxi to Terminal D, or the west side, and land, then taxi BACK to Terminal D, so it landed a normal, south to north arrival.
Here's one of my favorites from that day, a Finnair A-350 coming in after a nice, long trip, from Helsinki, Finland.

My hat off to anyone who ran/runs Marathon! I am not sure where we will be standing to watch her. We can track where she will be at any given moment because she will have the phone with her.

Thank you very much! This is her second Marathon, her first one was the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC two years ago. This will be her second time. Didn't expect we will see snow in Houston.
Douglas, I do pray you and your family will be safe during your trip to Houston. I lived and worked there for over 60 years. When I go to Houston, I will drive a day trip or I will stay in Galveston and commute to Houston. I am sure there are safe places and I don't want you to be alarmed, just be aware and be alert for what is going on around you.
But mostly, have fun and best wishes for a successful run by your daughter.

I ran 10k's for many years Douglas! And those were at the apex of ANY running range I can do. I am a sprinter in my youth not a long range cross country of marathoner!
Kudos to your daughter and will we see any photos of her?
Wish her my best!
Dan
So here's the story: #11 in red received a bouncing pass toward the goal and the goalie came out to grab the ball. As the two players approached each other the goalie fears a collision while the attacker (#11 in red) gently lifts the ball over the goalie and it dribbles into the goal.
