Must be food nearby, the black vultures need the turkey vultures (red headed vultures with stronger beaks) to rip open the carcass for them on tougher skinned entrees.
You passed within six miles east of me on I-35 a couple of miles north of Buc-ee's. Oh well, coulda, woulda shoulda!
Jesse James refused to rob banks in McKinney, Texas, because his favorite chili was served in McKinney and he knew that if he robbed a bank there he would not be able to return and have some of that chili."
Unfortunately they did not name the place where he liked to eat chili or I would ask you to check it out.

Hi Ray, turned out that I didn't have any free time. Did you see my email from Monday? I was hoping that the schedule would allow us to get together. I left Allen at 5:30 and rolled back in at 11, and it was non-stop once I got to the site. I was in Belton, 31 minutes from you.
Another picture from my son, Mark, who was on a hike today with his fellow pilot. Both in Switzerland, this is Sion. Beautiful contrast between old and new. Clear index of what a two year old iPhone can do. It's the photog, not the gear, eh?

Beautiful brother!
That iPhone is a keeper! If members don't mention that their image/post is from an smartphone, I would have never known!
Happy New Year!

I LOVE ANY chili , especially "Tay-has" style, but my most favorite is Terlingua red chili !
The ONLY place around here that served it was Hard Times cafe but they left the area long ago.
I had a very good friend at Ft Hood that would fly me in a batch every Wednesday when he flew to JB Andrews on assignment! His wife was a home grown Texan and she knew how to cook!!!!
He retired and so did I!
Jim,
who would that airport be serving? From that rendering, capacity for planes is limited, and there don't seem to be the gates that you would normally see with access for disabled individuals. Just curious, but from the looks of it, you will be quite busy
The city has floated two separate bond propositions, both of which were soundly defeated, partly because they didn't do a very good job of telling local voters how this would benefit them, and partly because folks are tired of being taxed to death. The city has proceeded under the assumption that they can do it with private funds. I've stayed out of it all because I am a sizable stakeholder in the airport and really don't have an opinion. I guess I would lean a bit to the skeptical side if I was forced to take a stand, can't imagine any viable airline wanting to invest the necessary funds to utilize McKinney National Airport for regular service. Obviously there wouldn't be any type of "connecting" flight service to anywhere so it would have to be one shot service to particular destination like Austin/Houston/Ok City. No one really knows because the city isn't giving any details about who they are talking to. One thing that I do know is that the rents and property values on the airport are skyrocketing. I don't think that it has anything to do with this plan succeeding or failing, TKI is just in a prime position to succeed, largely for GA and particularly jet charter and that is very good for anyone who is currently invested.
I read the FAA suggested years ago TKI should become an overflow for DFW. That was the first bond election that failed. Judging from the artist conceptual drawing, with the aircraft similar to 737s, I bet they are talking to Southwest. I imagine they would like TKI for a regional option for Dallas/Houston commuters. Remember the Love Field to Houston Hobby commuter route? Their competition with Braniff revitalized Hobby resulting in what Hobby has become today. At the time, it was used for general aircraft only.
In fact, the USAF base realignment committee cited input from the FAA in the 1970s to close Ellington so they could expand the southern approach/takeoff corridors for Hobby.
I obviously have little knowledge of the inner workings of the airline business, but the question I would ask, were I CEO of an airline, would be, am I losing any money by not flying out of McKinney? I don't know how many people get up in the morning in North Texas and decide not to fly to a destination because they can't do it out of McKinney. DFW is 30 minutes from McKinney, Love is a little longer. Are the airlines losing enough money to make the infrastructure and employment investment at TKI worth it? I guess we will see.
