Great video Douglas! Can hardly wait to see what you get when you become "unburdened"........ Wonder what video equipment they were using, the focus was dead on.
Chas, Jim, I rode with them for 4 days this year. I don't think they were using any fancy equipment. I would venture to say that my gear were probably higher end than most on the flight but we all know the person behind the camera is more important. Believe or not, when I was in Denmark doing the A2A of the F-16 with the gorgeous red paint scheme, one of the crews was just using an iPhone to shoot the video and sent it to the Danish Air Force. I need to learn how to do videos one of these days.
One more area that I was gently nudged in by a valued client, video. Glad I got that nudge, like drone work, it has opened a number of doors for me. Back in the day, a still photographer wouldn't touch video, and a videographer had no interest in still work, but social media turned that around in a hurry. Rarely do I have an assignment that doesn't incorporate video somewhere.
The learning curve for a person steeped in the habits of still work is a bit steep, but well worth it. I'm so looking forward to getting to know the C400, and really the R5II for video work. AF has always been a weak spot in video, real video pros always shot in manual focus, but that too is changing with better technology.
Hey Guys, FYI, the R5 II battery booster grip with the fan does not have camera controls. I discovered this when I rolled the camera vertical at the zoo the other day and was a little miffed that my shutter finger couldn't find the vertical shutter button. Apparently they couldn't incorporate the mechanisms due to the power vent system. I think this is something that Canon should point out, I just assumed that it was like all the other grips I have had. Guess I need to get the grip that has the shutter button so I can have that one on one of the bodies. We really don't know if the II has a heating problem anyway, and heading into Fall and winter I doubt it will.
Some nice test pictures so far Jim, I'm sure you'll have it thru all the paces and value soon enough.
Funny on the zoo shots, which look great by the way. Drove thru a wild life area and a small, small zoo on the way to the airshow this weekend. Got to hotel, put card in like always to go thru some pictures and had some really nice ones. ( normally when card is in the computer at home I always download files to hard drive ) thinking off brain I did that, took card out of laptop, put in camera and formatted card and in a split second I realized what I just did, lost all, similar to what I did and posted about a few weeks ago but this was dumber...So all pictures gone...

I have certain workflow habits that are so deeply ingrained (very annoying to Sheila), one of them is when I get home from a shoot, nothing gets in the way of download and triple back up, it' s so easy to miss a step, forget a little shoot, format the drive and poof.
