I have a weekly assignment about 20 minutes south of Fort Worth and I've been itching to take the II to the Ft. Worth Zoo, but the THI has been so brutal I have put it off. Today was only THI of 107, mild by comparison, so I went...........
Very good subjects to show off the resolution of the R5II, Jim! Posting on FM doesn't do it justice with the limited file size. I post some of my pictures on Flickr at full resolution so I am able to view the amazing details of those high resolution cameras.

Obviously not the definitive analysis, but so far, the R5II is all that and a bag of chips.................
Looks as if he/she agrees also Jim!!!

Thanks Douglas! I had fun with the camera yesterday, and got to know it a little better. Ran into a snag, it would not record video, so I called my guy at Canon and he walked me through the menu. Turns out, for some reason, the record button does not come from the factory assigned to record (?) Kinda makes one wonder. 107 "feels like", recording 8K@30fps, no sign of heat stress. The AF has so many customizable parameters that it will take a bit to use all of the features, but right out of the gate it is a whole new world. I can see what that Olympic shooter set the 24 MP R1 aside and used the 45MP II for the majority of his work, it's definitely "Flagship" class equipment.

That Nikon sure makes a fine image Joe!
A great part of history!

Anyone who wants an R5II had better get their hands on one asap because Canon just announced that they have a substantial components delivery problem and it could be six months before orders placed now are filled. That's unfortunate, in light of the nice roll out that they did on the 20th.
I can tell you this, right now, or in six months, that camera is worth the wait. I don't believe that I have ever been as pleased with a new camera body as I am with the II. I just ordered a second one. I can hardly wait to see how the C400 performs with the same sensor and AF system, it should be one amazing cinema camera. The 8K video files, straight from the II are just incredible.
It appears that my connections at Canon are still pretty good, my second R5II just arrived. Anyone interested in my R5, I'll sell it in the family for $1600 with the Small Rig cage, battery grip and strap, in the original box. Pictures if you need them, but it's in typically excellent condition with a lot of life left and a history of producing pretty darn good shots....................
That is a really remarkable craft - I visited her at Evansville, IN, a few years ago - still have a few souvenirs.
To think back on her history is amazing - I was 4 when she made those trip across the English Channel!
If walls, and decks could talk . . . . .

This will cause visual orgasm. Hope I will do this ride when I am unburdened by what it has been.
Douglas, that is the most amazing air-to-air imagery I have ever seen!!!! I do hope you get to do it, and soon. And if you need a lift there, I'm available!!!
