Douglas shoots better (I tired), but I got a few of Binki and Lil Pab too (F/A-18 123). They even flew a heritage flight with one of my favorite birds of all time, the F-4U Corsair...

Yes Bill... the heat haze was pretty prevalent here this past weekend. Hopefully Oshkosh isn't as hot, not that I'm going... The F-16 Viper Demo Team was here, but the fully painted bird I wanted to see, was way late getting here, and came in unannounced and landed. I got him from long ways away, heat haze from taxiway and field. Bummer. One I wanted a good image of for the wall, but not so much.

I would like to see this paint scheme before they change it back. The closest show featuring this jet is in Rochester, NY next month, a 5-hour drive one way. The rest of the lineup isn't that exciting, although the Italian team will be there too. After shooting the Frecce Tricolori at sunset in Sacramento last week, shooting it again in bright day light doesn't excite me as much. I am not sure if I want to drive 10 hours just to see this F-16, even though I don't mind driving usually.

That's some very creative processing, Bill. If the real scene is as spooky as the picture, I am not sure if I want to get on that plane.

Just had a third Angelbird CF Express card fail, 1TB. They are replacing it, it failed when I put it back in the R5C after download (a best scenario), but it concerns me. I just ordered some Lexar 1TB CFE cards, the company has undergone a revamp and they are supposed to be top notch.

So sorry to hear about the card failure, Jim. Something I dread about. I recently sold all my six 160 GB CFExpress Type A cards (Sony and Prograde), they performed great but I wanted bigger cards, just bought two CFExpress Type A 960 GB cards and two 480 GB card, all Prograde, faster speeds, much cheaper $/GB compared to what I paid for the 160 GB cards when I bought them. For what I shoot, that's all the cards I need for now.

That is the YF-16 paint scheme that I did not get a in flight shot of. It was supposed to go up, but during pre-check, it had a mechanical so they had to send up the backup. Since there is only one YF-16 full painted F-16, the backup has only the tail painted like the 50 year old YF-16...

So, I missed that plane, and thus an image like that. So sad.

Although this says Robert on the side, that isn't a Robert. And I actually forgot her name, but it is a female, and she knows what she is doing, Top notch person and pilot.

Back story, they flew in Friday before the show, and rolled by which is when I got this shot. Gray-blueish plane, half blah skies, so tried B&W. But anyway, Saturday morning, on way to the show, I stopped at Starbucks (pee and get a brew). Waiting for the drink, she came in with the pilot of the other jet, both dressed in flight gear. Walked up and asked if she flew in yesterday and she said "Yes". I asked if she flew a plane with Robert written on the side. She looked at me, then her flight mate, and said "It does?". I said "Yeah, horizontal lightning bolt outline with Robert inside." She followed with "Oh, maybe the other side. The crew chief of the jet. Mine better be on the proper side. Now I need to look."

Yes, the USAF will sometimes allow the crew chief/asst. crew chief names on the right side. An alternate location is to paint them on the nose gear door. Usually, the name is on the canopy sill not the fuselage.

Morning boys and girls I think they are still around lurking.
Just rolled back into town after a tiring five day visit to the Royal International Air Tattoo.

Hot weather cold hot again and so on.
Stayed in the FRIAT enclosure that is a grandstand with a patch of grass it's own toilets and refreshments.
Completely sold out show for all the days mind boggling.

Shot a total of 181GB of photo's not all that great
And being so close to the runway a 500 prime is not always handy.
But it were a great couple of days.

One sample for now as i have to go to mom.

The COAP guys had people from Canon etc in the tent and they had the new R1 and the new R52 on hand.
But I don't know if the guys did some test shots with it will have to ask.

Sample photo a Royal Moroccan Airforce RMAF 08-8013. F-16C Block 52 in a rare attendance to an overseas show this being the 50th anniversary of the F16.

Stay tuned
