I will stay clear of the urban areas of Sacramento and S.F.! I will hit some of the spots in the northern Cal coast before the weekend's airshow, then hit Yosemite on Mon/Tue before I head out to L.A for for business stuff. Summer is probably not a good time to see Yosemite though, I have been there before.
I thought I had never seen F-4 flying, but last week when i was looking at some old pictures, I found these from 2012.
The F4 is forever in my mind Douglas! It was my primary aircraft for close air support for 2 years. They are "screamers" fer sur!
Unfortunately Iran still flies their F4's that they got from some idiot here.
But a few other Countries still use the F4 for their current aircraft.
Had a childhood friend that was a "driver" for F4's out of Udorn Thailand as the Vietnam War slowed down.
Great images Douglas!

Wow...interesting posting, as in a former life I worked on 463s' weapon control systems (and many others) in the " WCS Mockup Lab" (APQ-109/APQ-120/APQ-165) from 72-74 with the 432nd AMS at Udorn RTAFB. I knew both Capt. Ritchie and his RSO/WSO, Capt. Chuck DeBellville and was there for his aerial show when he got his "ace". That aircraft is now on permanent static display in the "Quad" at the US Air Force Academy, with my "Edd was here" signature inside the radome. My oldest son graduated from the Academy in 2003 and had many a photo taken with it...
My son back at the USAFA in 2013 teaching advanced physics...
Yahoo! I'll be joining the esteemed club of Sony 300/2.8 plus TC's users. I have been through the Canon and Nikon "old" SLR long lenses (200-400/4, 300/2.8, 400/2.8, 500/4) and borrowed a friends Sony 600/4 which, as Douglas continually proves is outstanding. My 200-600, at 600, is "ok" but not stellar. This, "more affordable 600", should be here for the California Capital Airshow.
I'm trying to decide to go to Sac next weekend...Looks like a great show.
Italian boys were supposed to stop here for fuel on the way there but they are stopping a little north of me.

Thank you Dan! We were supposed to do A2A of the Hellenic Air Force in Denmark but they postponed the show until next year, so we "only" got to shoot the f16s and F-35s.

What I like about this show is it's at late afternoon/sunset. I don't get to shoot airplanes in such hours so I am jealous of the sunset backgrounds you keep getting.

Congrats on the 300 GM, Jeff! It's amazingly light. The main reason I bought mine is to shoot hummingbirds in my yard at very close distance. I had been using the 200-600 for that in the last couple years and I am quite happy with my copy of the 200-600. But at MDF the 200-600 at 600mm is not quite 600, a lot of people say at MFD it's around 550mm. There is no question at about 2 meters the 300 GM+2X TC produces a "bigger" hummingbird than the 200-600 at 600mm, a bit brighter aperture doesn't hurt either. I have had the 300 GM for about 3 months, haven't had many occasions to use it. The hummingbird number/activities in my yard this year have been dismal. This coming Sunday I will try the 300 GM + 2X TC for the airshow in Binghamton, NY.
Some shots of flying subjects with the 300 GM+2X TC from last week and this week. From what I read, the Sony 300 GM takes 2X TC better than any other teles of any brand. I don't know about that but I am happy with what I see.
You all have a happy 4th! Despite of all the problems we have, the USA is still a great country!

Here is an example Growler on final KMHR 22L at the 2022 California Capital Airshow - Friday practice day around 6:50PM.
Hillsboro always has an evening show, you're right, they are beautiful and light is killer.
Shot there last year and this year.
.
If I go to Sac i will definately go early Friday to get down there for shots like that.
.
Nice one jlambros...
.
And Douglas, although some scary lookin birds you got some good ones, the detail on that first one is amazing.
And of course we all love the hummers.
.
And YES...The USA is still GREAT !
