Solid advice Mark. I'll be there 7/26-7/29.
In lieu of a hotel out of town, lots of local folks rent their houses for the week in the $4000-7000 range. Some pretty big houses that sleep a lot - Not a bad expense if split up between 5-10 people.
We had a house this year that was on the airport grounds just behind the museum for $7k with at least 8 beds.
I'm planning 9 days there. A house for that period works out at £3500 for a 6 bedroom on air bnb. If there were enough of us for a week to 9 days it would be doable between us and cheaper than the likes of the university.
I've done the camping thing, the university thing, the home rental thing, I think I'm going for a nice hotel, check in/ check out, badda bing badda boom.
Yes, my bro-in-law has a friend with a holiday home in Oshkosh, he's checking whether it might be available We're also looking at AirBnB and other rentals but he says you need at least four to make it cost-effective

Wait, Glenn, aren't you going to miss the whole under the wing EAA experience? JR and I camped several years when he was about 5, it was fun............then.......... My idea of roughing now it is a Marriott Courtyard. Chandler has a beautiful big RV, if it wasn't so darn far, I'd consider a road trip and camping like that.
My granddaughter Gracie and I have been talking and texting pretty regularly since our Florida adventures together, she is so excited about her new camera. She had 20 minutes between classes and one of her three jobs, so she went to The Farmers Market and shot pictures. It would be ridiculous to say that I am not biased, but I'm telling' ya, her eye for composition just blows me away. She sees things in a completely different way than I do an dI find her work fascinating. This little girl has had a camera for a couple of weeks and she captures these in 20 minutes today...........
It's funny how our personalities come out in our shooting style. I probably never would have seen the smiling child or the guitar player. On the other hand, give me a tripod and an empty church or museum and I'm a happy camper all day long.
Oshkosh, huh? I've only been there once when we flew in the show with the T-34 Association. I've always wanted to go back...
Isn't that the truth, and haven't we said it many times? Send us all to the same location and we'll all come back with something different. This is a wonderful experience I did not anticipate. Chandler is a very good shooter, completely different vision than Gracie, really, blessed beyond measure and so very grateful.

8K for the week, on the lake sleeps 10..................
We have also been looking at rentals We have found somewhere close with 3 doubles and one bunk-bedded room. For the two of us it's quite expensive ($3,600 for the week - arrive 22nd depart 30th) would anyone else be interested in sharing?
It's at https://www.vrbo.com/1116753

Now I see it, Jim. Not just the compositional thing - I'm seeing a little of something much more unusual - and precious. I think Gracie is seeing things with her unadorned eye and not just the composites of her vision system. In my experience very few photographers have that ability. I sure don't - I think our Jeff W does. I see a future with large aperture primes beckoning.

I missed this - See my post re rental at https://www.vrbo.com/1116753 It has 3 doubles (plus a pair of bunks) and we would be interested in sharing (or somewhere else if you can find a better/nearer deal)

I'm in conflict over EAA. That last weekend of July is an event I've not missed since it started here, and I'd like to keep my streak going. I'd have to camp though, I've got a hammock, just need two trees and mosquito netting.
