Wednesday, I drove from Flensburg, Germany to the Tigermeet, which is only a 25 minutes drive, part of which was the speed limitless autobahn, it was raining when I was driving there so there went my thrill. I stood outside the airfield to watch about 40 different NATO jets taking off and landing, twice. to me the coolest were the Euro Thyphoons and the Tornatos, which I had never seen before, not even on ground, let alone so many in flight.
Thursday, an amazing amazing day of air to air shoot, the weather wasn't the best but we found pockets of air space to do it. I lost track on the number of planes but the biggies are the Danish AF F-35, flying solo and in formation with an armed F-16, then 2 armed F-16s flew in formation, they all did a couple banking and some moves for us to shoot, some of shots have beautiful farms and ocean below, just absolutely nice setting. One of them even popped flares. One of the 2 F-16s still had the Norwegian marking from 2008 on it. I was told it was transferred to Denmark for training purposes. The third F-16 they sent up was absolutely gorgeously painted for the 50th anniversary of the F-16, I didn't know countries besides the U.S. put in effort to celebrate it. The paint scheme has Danish red as the main theme, incredibly beautiful, IMHO. The Danish AF told us not to post any pictures/videos of this F-16 until Monday, which will be the day they unveil it to the public. I am beyond ecstatic about this trip. The Danish AF was more than cooperative.
Heading to Iceland tomorrow to shoot some landscape.
You dirty dog you !!!
What a trip and the pictures will knock us all on our butt's I'm sure. Would love to see the Typhoons, Tornados and others...Can't wait Douglas. Got my new Sony setup comin next week, I'm right behind you !
So glad to hear that you had a successful shoot Douglas! Reward comes to those who show up, and you certainly put your heart into this! Can hardly wait to see your treasure chest of "Douglas" originals. One of these days I wanna go on an adventure with you!
So sad isn't it Tony? Whoever said that we will not be defeated by military force, but just what you pictured here. Sad to see "The Greatest Generation" leaving us, but I'm glad that they won't be here to witness how their heroic sacrifice has been squandered.
Yeah and Americans attacking the capital trying to stop the peaceful transfer of power. A corner stone of democracy, The same kind of autocratic idealism my father and many of those veterans that were in Normandy on D Day were fighting against. So glad my father wasn't around to see Jan 6. It would have broken his heart. All his freinds that never made it home trying to stop the very kind of thing we all witnessed. It is sad indeed,
I thought that was you Ray? And lets remember those morons in horns and fur on Jan 6th. I'll take the pink tight folks any day over folks trying overthrow our democracy. Democracy is something all of those like my father on D Day were fighting for, not against.
Unfortunately, it’s too late to take a poll of those who died on D-day fighting to safeguard our democracy. However, I wonder what they might say about shedding their blood so that someone could march in pink tights vs. the possibility that a convicted felon could perhaps become president of the United States.
Remember, all those that wrote the Constitution which guarantees the rights to march in pink tights were felons.
Remember a few years ago supporters of one party rioted and burned cities in support of a 8 time felon...and... not all convictions in our court system are just.
Yeah they didn't try and stop the peaceful transfer of power. That is treason period. All riots are wrong. The problem is when it becomes party over country things get scary. Nazi party, Germany late 1920s early 1930s, Facsists in Italy and Spain, Communists in Russia, Baathists in the middle east. And even worse when a man becomes more important than party or the country, I swore an oath to the constitution of the United States as did my father in WWII and my grandfather in WWI. Not an oath to any one party or especially any one man.
Sorry to have disrupted the thread with my comment, I knew better but I was laughing to hard at the image. Shame on me. A guy in pink tights can never overshadow the guys and gals who served their countries, and us, in many hostile environments during WWII. I am old enough to be forever indebted to their service.
Unfortunately boys, minds are unlikely to be changed, narratives and agendas supersede facts, our justice system is a shambles. No point in arguing about it at this point, we'll either make a much needed change in November or this circus and it's clowns will finish the job they have so ably done up to this point, and that will indeed be a shame.
Back to photography, who wants to bet that Douglas will show up here in the near future and render us all speechless with the images he has created on his adventure?

That's a bet I don't take Jim! It is a given!

It is the new "ghilley suit" Ray! It has become so much a part of the environment, it remains unnoticed...at least to younger gens!! "Time can bring you down
Time can bend your knees
Time can break your heart
Have you begging please
Begging please....."

thanks Jim. I am still in Iceland until thursday. i won’t get to edit the pictures until this coming weekend. i will say this though, from the preview in my laptop screen, i am very pleased with the F35 with the beautiful farms in the background and F16 with special paint scheme. The Danish government postponed the airshow but the Danish Air Force was really enthusiastic to show off. i can’t believe they sent up multiple f35s and f16s multiple times in two days just for us to photograph. i was walking in copenhagen at midnight with my camera gear by myself, and driving around aimlessly in iceland, no for a second i worry about my safety, specially in iceland, they don’t have the population like we do in the US that may kill for $20… They do have beautiful blonds … when you let in the wrong people in your country, you are screwed for ever. In some european countries you may get mugged or picked pocket, but the chance someone will shoot you in a rubbery is pretty low. A damn shame it has become so dangerous in some U.S. cities where that particular subculture thrives and is glorified.

Hmmm
Don't go there, man. Do not even think of going there. Keep your obfuscations and lies to yourself.
