Bob, we were just through Girigaldi and Tillamook less than a month ago and we missed that F-unit. As well as all the other trains. Of course we were just driving down the 101 to Tillamook from Washinton and I was driving a Motorhome and not the passenger. Can't lookie-loo as much as I wanted too. IF I ever get back up there Giribaldi was one of the places I wanted to spend more time and hit the trains. There is a railfan train up there. I think it was a Heisler. Thanks for sharing.
O, Great Bob... Make me feel worse I could not spend more time up there. Oh well, I guess I will live vicariously thorugh your pictures. Thank you for sharing.
O, BTW, I noticed a rail line that parallelled the 101 for quite a while up there. In some places, it looked like it was used some and in other places (overgrown weeds in old rail cars on the rails) it didn't looks used at all. It is too bad that line is not used more. It probably would make a really nice train trip along it.

Who,
Come on back an jump on board! The train's fine!!
I would Sooooooo Love to. I was ready a week after we got home.
BUT, out of vacation time for a while... Actually, I could easily spend 1-2 months going up or down the whole Oregon coast. We got a great first experience. Except for that darned road construction in many spots on the 101 between Astoria and somewhere north of Tillamook.
Dave,
Where are the coaches? Looks like a cool train. Photographically, the first one could stand a bit of perspective correction. Just one man's opinion...
This Guy is Train Crazy every time I ask him to go with me we have to stop at the Station and picup a cardboard cutout train that they give to the kids.

grosema,
Your shots remind me of a song that was folating around when I was a kid a couple centuries ago...
"Down by the station early in the morning,
See the little puffer-bellies all in a row,
See the Station Master pull the little handle,
Chug, chug, whoo whoo off we go!"
Thanks for the comments all............
We where Lucky that the train just happened by that day as we where just about to leave after waiting for a half hour
Ben's biggest problem is he is way to smart for his age and he has a photographic memory (all true)... And I don't know where he gets it all from cause it sure ain't from me.
Waiting for a train..........
He is smiling cause he knows he is not supposed to be on the track.
OPA --(that's me) said he could just this once
I am bad http://i.pbase.com/o6/26/6626/1/100173069.FgdYHpKl.DSC_4908.jpg
