Chris, that's a really nice shot. Did you take their ferry or was that another boat? I wanted to go out there this past summer, but the days got away from me.
I was on my Dad's 28-foot Seaswirl. We had made a day trip from his home along the Severn River (just up the river from the Naval Academy) to St. Michaels, MD. We were on our way home and the lighting was good so we swung in close to the lighthouse so I could take a few shots.
Two photos, both hand-held with S5 @ ISO 800 and Reflex Nikkor 500mm f/8. Shot in jpeg and no pp, except moderate usm (80/0.3/0) on the girl. 1/1600 and 1/3200s.
Sadly, this doesn't "pop" as much as the high-res original, but i still like it... Shot with the 400$ combination of a D40 and a beat up AIS 50/1.4 Used a polarizer, no hard PP, just some curve-tweaking in LR2:
