Nice images! The last one looks plenty sharp and detailed, only downside is the somewhat harsh shadow on the eyes. probably due to the bounced flash. Have you tried a diffusor? Or maybe a little white card to fill in those shadows...

Thanks. It's not so easy to get a good vantage point if you are there for only one day as I was. You more or less have to take a chance.
