Kurt the separation you have in that image is absolutely unbelievable... almost 3D. Would love to see more action shots with that kind of technical wizardry to them...

I did a shot like these women. I was threatened with SEVERE bodily injury if the photo was ever seen again. Women do NOT like pores, nose hairs, mustache hairs, or stray eyebrows or eyelashes showing in pix of them.
Thanks very much for the comments DJ and Waterflyboy. They're very much appreciated. I've spent the past several years shooting manual focus only before picking up the D3. Therefore, I've found I've become very much more deliberate in how and what I'm shooting.
Here's one more with a slightly different take on the same type of scene.
I've been watching and enjoying this thread for months and I'm still amazed by the quality of images posted here. I became a Nikon shooter a few months ago and I'm finally making my first post here. This is our local water tower that I pass every day to get to work. I had to stand in the back of my truck on some equipment to eliminate most of the building. It was around 15 degrees (F) outside.
Thanks Gaylon. Between the unsteady footing and the cold, I definitely appreciated the VR. The colors are a little more saturated then they were in real life, but the purple to orange gradient was a nice sight to see on my way to work!
