Hi folks, I am new here. Followed a link from DPforums and now I can't stop reading. I recently picked up a D300 and have been mad at lens shopping. My latest addition is the infamous 70-200vr, the following iguana shot was taken wide open.

Sadly, the head is not completely sharp, gonna go back to the dragon grounds tomorrow and try to snap a few more.
Sometimes, I get this urge to do things that I know makes no sense, like buying an ancient Nikkor 500mm reflex. I have a long way to go before I can make quality photos with this thing, but it's a fun lens, and I'm enjoying it a lot
S3 with Nikkor 500mm reflex, f/8 obviously. First shot, the view from my balcony:
That's how we pyrotechnicians spend our Saturday nights. It was just a small show so I figured I'd shoot the other side of the fireworks for once. I used my D200 and 50/1,8, 1/100s and ISO 800.
Sadly I seem to have lost a whole bunch of sharpness somewhere in the upload. The RAW files looks a better.
From the Midwest Fashion Week, Sacrifice at the Hilton in Downtown Indy. I couldn't believe how many photographers were in such a small space for such a small show. It was an excellent show though! http://www.flickr.com/photos/enzyme00/ for exif
It was a magic SB-800 floating in the air all around the models man! Can't you tell?!?!
Seriously though, it was on camera bounced I think behind and above me just to fill in the shadows from the main runway lights. It had a 1/2 CTO on it.
Most of the lights came from huge banks of hotlights towards the models backs and flanking the runway. The ceiling in the place was around 100ft tall with just a bit of dusk light coming through it. The lighting was all over the map, it was a horrible headache. I talked to a couple of photographers there and almost all of them resorted to just using direct flash, which was great because the runway was elevated and your flash cast huge shadows on the walls behind the models.
So nothing too fancy, just some strobe ambient balancing.
