I would just like to add how much better my camera works after reading this comprehensive technical release from Canon. I printed the custom function tips and the custom functions in detail and love the results I am getting. Forget everything you used on the 1D11 / 1D11n and develop a new mindset. Good luck
I had that function enabled before the firmware update and then never reset it afterwards. If it was affecting the AF I sure didn't see it plus the guy that "discovered" this came from a Nikon and wasn't very aware of many of the other cfns that affect AF/handling. I'd wait to make a deal out of this until others have verified it has some real affect.
I'm sorry but this guy doesn't appear to know how the Canon AF system works and is posting the "discoveries" he thinks he is making as he goes. His latest was that his mkIII only locks AF if the confirmation beep is turned on. If you follow the thread to the end you'll see he is still having AF lock problems in spite of his changes and is going to send his mkIII back.
Well, setting CFn 1, 10 to enable and leaving all metering modes checked (as ludicrious as it sounds) may well have solved his AI-Servo problem BUT saying "One last thing of interest is that the ISO 6400 shots I took last night had even less noise than the ones I took when I first got the camera." appears this setting also makes the camera handle noise more efficiently at ISO 6400? Sounds errr interesting.
Anyway, I would also be very interested to hear if this 'fix' works for anyone else.
I took a quick look only, so quite possible I'm missing something. But I did have a Mk III and returned it. In what ways do you see this as a whole new mindset vs. the Mk II/N?
theres a plastic screwcap that fits over the wireless interface port on the 1D III
I'ts for the WFT-E2A. Well, theres a plastic screwcap that lies flush with the side of the camera, and a metal cap that sticks out badly. The plastic one tends to loosen and fall off for some. Gaffer it down.
I guess it the tracking was more sensitive the focus would tend to jump around more whereas the n might hold steady. Just a guess, but it does make some sense. I will be curious to see how this pans out with MKIII users who have had a problem. Let us know, inquiring minds and all.
Woo Hooooooooo been calling them every single day these past few weeks and hit the jackpot just a little while ago. This morning they weren't taking orders the guy said but they are now. So if you want one then ya better give them a ring because he said by sometime this afternoon they will probably be back to not taking any orders. 2-3 weeks for it to get here he said.
