It also says on his item page it "usually ships in 6 to 10 days". I take that to mean he doesn't really have one yet, but he's going to try to snag one out of the next B&H shipment and sell it.
Im really sorry folks- You look and look and look until all the numbers become mush. The amazon seller is $5,499- $1000 more than everyone else- I'm an idiot.

That's why it's called SCAMazon... you're a lot safer buying on eBay.
Finally got mine !! from a local guy who sells them on ebay ...... and get this only 5100.00 including GAS to go pick it up ..... brand new and in the box never touched !!!
thanks to him I finally have my tool and as well a good friend has his too !!!
Those of you having problems may want to give this a try.
BY default the camera has C.Fn 1-10 set to "Disable"
Change this to "Enable" and make sure you tick on ALL metering modes.
I know it seems wierd that a metering C.Fn would affect AF, but there are some reporting that it is working for them, if it does work then it would appear there is a Software glitch that needs a Firmware update.
I can't get my head round that one I haven't found any AF issues with my MKIII apart from shooting bikes through a chain link fence when the sunlight illuminates the fence I find I quite often have to pump the AF-ON button to make the AF refocus. Of course CFn I-10 has something to do with metering so maybe that will fix my problem?
Its interesting that know one has responded to this post? maybe people don't react to positives about the MKIII.
Im having no issues with mine as of yet. Im just passing along info I see, trying to help others.
With 150 views and no one responding, Im hoping some are giving it a try and will post thier results. So maybe they arent responding because they are out giving thier cameras a work out?
With out of the box settings mine hasn't had any trouble. I was shooting with a 70-200 2.8 IS in 95 degree weather from 1045-1200 without problems.
Was a soccer match from the sidelines. Every burst that I started that was in focus remained in focus. There were a couple that I started the burst focusing on the wrong player and the focus remained locked on the wrong player which is my fault.
Canon Australia forwarded this to me with instructions to digest it thoroughly. After doing so, my camera is working perfectly. I hope there is something in it for you. esp. cfn 111 in detail re: AI SERVO [9 pages ]. Happy reading
the plastic dookickey covers the interface for the wireless transmitter. I believe the metal is just another way to cover it, more secure than the plastic.
BTW, I lost my plastic piece. Its 1.52 at Canon parts (6 dollars shipping), so I picked up a few and some spare screws.
So, my advice? use the plastic bit, but gaffer it to keep it safe.
