One pro lens (17-55 f2.8) and a couple of prosumer lenses (12-24 f4 and 10.5 fisheye) isn't much of a committment. The other DX lenses aren't anything to get too worked up about.
Nikon still can't fill demand for the 18-200mm, you think they're going to announce eight new lenses? I don't think they have ever announced eight lenses at once. Since 1992, the most lenses ever released in one year was 9 in 2001, but they weren't all announced at once. In the last 15 years, Nikon has announced an average of four lenses per year. Of those 60-odd lenses, only 46 are still in release and some of those are "iffy".
Dragonfly .. I remember reading an interview with a senior Nikon exec where he said that they do want to go FF in the future, but that now (then about two years ago) was not yet the time. At no point has nikon ever said that they are not interested in FF. People reading tea leaves have - but no nikon brass. Quite the opposite.
I can't remember where that article is, but I KNOW that we had the link on FM at one point with the CEO of Nikon talking that Nikon had no plans of going FF and that they were committed to the DX line, because there is no need for FF formats. It was before the D2Hs came out.
What's wrong with a FF dslr with DX capabilities? Both sides are happy i.e. people wanting FF can use 35mm lenses and people owning existing DX lenses are well fed too
A lot have mentioned this before but somehow some guys stick to the notion that Nikon either sticks solely on a DX format or a FF format ~ not a mixture of both. Proof of this is on the D2Xs camera which can do a high speed crop.
Yes, a page on a Nikon website that I've encountered before did say that they are interested on FF sensors and will implement if it gets cheaper either to manufacture or bought from external sources.

Josh, I want to bitch about your camera. How limiting! I mean, if they could make 1/10,000 sec shutter, what a let down that the flash is only 1/5,000 sec. Nope. I'm switching already.
Now keep in mind I really like both the idea of FF for some of the advantages and the idea of a 1.5 crop for some of its advantages. In the end I like 1.5 a bit more but really - I don't care much. There is so much more in life to get excited about. But I feel that nikon has the likelyhood of delivering my dream camera most in the form of either a FF/1.5 HSC or a 1.5/2x HSC. Anyone for a FF/1.5/2x three step HSC mode in the next body? I like being spoiled with choice!
Roger, we don't have many rumours here, because we just wait to something is released and then discuss the camera on its merits. We occasionally discuss what we'd like in a new camera, and we poke a lot of fun at things. Talking about vapourware is fun, but isn't going to help me take a better shot with the camera I have today.
If it doesn't have it's own singular IP address nobody will buy one...unless, of course, they add a gold ring and raise the price $1500.
