I want a 1.5 crop 13mp, 10FPS, built in grip, body the size and wieght of a D80 with grip. it is it! oh less noise, but same or better color that only Nikon can produce.

We are saving them until after the bubub over the canon 1Dmk3 (what a dumb name) dies down in a few years.

I wonder if Canon is kicking themselves for using such a strange nomenclature. At least Nikon has a logical way of going up. Canons are now pigeonholed to naming their good stuff "1D Mark xyz".

1DM3 isn't too bad. It's easy to tell this is the third generation of the 1 series digital body from Canon.

Now, what's up with Av (aperture value) and Tv (time value)? That's a nomenclature I'm not fond of.

Tv and Av sounds familiar. I think my Canon A1 exposure modes were marked that way.

Pavel, would you buy an F6 if it came out with a digital back?

Not that I'm making any suggestion they will

I would buy two F6's and one back if they did.

In a world where new sensors appear every year, the idea of a digital back makes a lot of sense as long as they can price the back far less than the body.

And I do think the Canon nomenclature for their models is extremely confusing. They've got an:
EOS 1D Mark III
EOS 1Ds Mark II
EOS 1D Mark IIn
EOS 5D
EOS 30D

The 5D and EOS 1Ds Mark II are "35mm frame". Assuming that this is something which Canon sees as a benefit, why would they not include something in the name that indicates this, like 5Dff or 1Ds Mark IIff? What does the "s" mean on the 1Ds?
