I hope they finally bring out that 10-1000mm f/0.5 VR with 1:1 MACRO, internal focusing and weighs only 6 oz.!!! If they are smart they will add bluetooth, a cell phone, MP3 player, GPS, audio recorder, WiFi, and can double as a thermos!

to 330+ pages we go! We'll put those canon speculators to shame!
and pffft Josh, just VR? No, it's going to be VRSuper! It'll levitate your camera absolutely still so you don't screw up the picture by touching it. It'll also have an Ansel-AI mode in that it'll travel the world on its own taking better than Ansel pictures without the need of having a photographer along.

I heard it will download pictures from the internet and copywrite them as your own...and that it will also order McDonald's breakfast for you when you are too tired to wake up and get it yourself.

My local store says they were informed by Nikon that orders for the 200mm Micro will no longer be excepted... And the rumor is a new 180mmF2.8 Micro AFS-VR or something is on the way.
As a very conservative company Nikon has the tendency to wait till the last minute to annouce price reductions or new models. It should not be a mystery by now that Nikon could be due for new cameras since technology is in progress and competition fierce. I have heard to talk about the incoming D3H and a possible D300, all possible since we are hearing about new sensors and new developments in the technique of making digital cameras.
By reading your post I see that a new body, whatever it is, most probably professional, is coming along with some lenses. I bet some of those lenses are embracing the new technologies like silent wave AF and VR. All of these is a godsend for the consumer, assuming the prices are within reach.
PMA promises to be very interesting this year and the years to come.
Digital is still very young so we are still watching its development.
In my opinion, regardless of which body and what lenses, we are all in for more exiting developments.

I'm glad I switched. Over there on the other side ... they used to believe those rumours. I especially love all those cases where the noise was even lower on a camera yet to be anounced and people used to call each other name over just how much noise was in those future bodies.
I heard a rumor finaly that I believe. Nikon will at some point make new lenses and a new body. The details have been kept under wraps unfortunately - but I hear the noise at iso 100 is even better than at 1600!
