about picking waters on smaller or bigger stores around the world....
is NORMAL that they deny any new commer at this point, even if they have a "guess" about it...
remember we have a month forward till the show, after that a wile till u can have a camera in your bag....
so if they would "confirm" something NOW who the hell would buy ANYTHING till over 2 months
the one who want the new goodies would certainly wait, so 30 would not sell at all, nor other replacements...the ones who have low budget would not buy nor the current models not competitors models like d80 or pentax u were talking about , cause they HOPE for froping prices at current models.....
so any rumor confirmation will FREEZE the market for at least 1.5 - 2 months.....
what store manager is that STUPID to confirm anything or even let anybody understand between lines some rumors are plausible?
i think none, they have a business and they must sell something...2 months of dry weather means a lot of money guys...so let;s be realistic....
u ask in the wrong places the wrong people
Not sure whether it is fake or not, but if true, we can really expect the price to be bad. Really. Looking together at the price of the 400 DO and at the trend of pricing relatively high new lenses, there is little doubt this one would break the $10000 barrier at B&H...
All of this is quite true. And it confirms something suggested earlier -- all reps lie.

I think the 40D should have 12 MP and crop 1.3
I remember Canon said the did not released the 30D with 10 MP because the camera would not have the image quality canon like to deliver for this kind of camera.
Why canon should chane this statement now ?
Why did Canon put only 3mp into the D30? Not because it was an unbreakable sound barrier. Or even better: why did Canon use the same sensor in the D60 and 10D? Because it made sense _at that time_. Doesn't mean technology and/or marketing doesn't change in the future ever again.
Same applies to the never ending whining about pixel size and noise. Again, compare the D30 with the 30D and learn.
Hi, I really never post here but I've got a question. I'm really a noob and I've owned a 20d with a couple lenses for over a year now. How does canons line up evolve? It doesn't seem to follow any predictable pattern. I'm going to be selling my car in about 7 months at which time I was thinking of dropping about 8k on a new body and two or three L lenses and I just don't see how to make an informed choice without kicking myself thirty or ninety days later. Don't get me wrong whatever I buy I'll be happy with but I just like the pleasure of not having my slr being old news after a short time.
Oh, and something more on what to expect from PMA...
Remember the Canon M30 and M80 imagetanks, pre-announced at Photokina?
The german press release on it says "Preis und Verfügbarkeit im Handel werden im 1. Quartal 2007 feststehen und kommuniziert." which roughly translates to saying that pricing and availability will be set and communicated in the first quarter of 2007. That might be PMA as well...

I thought Canon had stated they had no intention of bringing that product to the US market? I'd like to see it before I buy one, but I had already decided I'd just buy one from overseas since I already have a BP-51x charger.
There has been an ongoing thread about negative associations of the number 4 in certain Asian languages, with the result being a belief that Canon would not identify a new camera model with this number - hence no "40D."

Welcome to the FM Forums, stits. By the way, it is "20D".
Canon will be announcing new cameras and lenses in about 30 days and probably also in about 7 months. So given your timing, keep in touch with this Canon forum. With 8k, I would suggest moving up one level only to the 5D or 5D replacement and spending most of that money on four L or near L lenses and don't neglect a good $500 tripod with a good $300 ballhead.
