That is exactly what I meant. The Rebel XTi is already losing the battle with the D80. They NEED to introduce something to grab that bit of the market back.
There was a definite rumor about a model under the XTi. But current users don't care, so it's not talked about. There also the XT available at reduced prices.
based on the tone of the last few pages... I've got a PMA prediction for you. After the show, I'll be scouring the B&S forum for all of the primo gear that's going out to pasture in the mass-exodus-run-from-anything-Canon-yard sale. Should be fun shopping!
PM me when you put your Mark IIn on the blocks, and I'm always interested in glass.
Christmas in February!
I hope everyone enjoys there new Sigma / Sony / Nikon / Whatever gear. Canon gear has more technology and capability than I have talent, so I'm staying in this camp until I catch up.
I get a pop up window with the following message...
"Dear Customers,
We have a special arrangement on 16 Feb 2007 (Fri).
The Opening Hours of Canon Customer Care Centre / Canon ImageČ will be changed to
11:00am - 3:00pm on 16 Feb 2007 (Fri.).
Normal Business Opening Hours will be resumed on 21 Feb 2007.
We are sorry for any inconvenience caused."
That's only because it's "Chinese New Year." They have a lunar new year's celebration right now into next week and it is one of the biggest holidays of the year. Everything shuts down.

Well I'm sticking with Canon as my primary fix no matter what they do or don't do this coming PMA. They've done alright by me. Taking bodies, lenses, customer support as a package deal I don't think you can beat Canon as a primary system. Other system do better for specialized niche jobs. But I may let go of an extra 1D2 if they come out with a new boday

Ah, but maybe it is a corporate "tet offensive"! Canon is about to launch a surprise attack on Nikon.......

Ah... I suppose... but then Chinese New Year doesn't start till the 18th....
It's also typically things shutdown for the whole week... At least in Taiwan they do.
Not true. Chinese Labor Day Holidays and Chinese New Year are both much longer than they appear on calendar. Many of my associates in China have already shut down operations so that their workers can travel to whatever villages their families originate from.
Chinese New Year, as far as staffing goes, started mid-week this week.
It would appear that the rumours are even recirculating from here to Chinese forums and (pehaps) back... http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=zh-TW&u=http://www.dchome.net/redirect.php%3Ftid%3D318977%26goto%3Dnewpost&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=16&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3DCanon%2B17-135%2BEF-S%2BIS%26num%3D50%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff
(You'll need to select the lot and paste into your browser)
See EOSfun's prediction repeated and all the discussion in translated Chinese....
The internet makes the world a small place...

Previous leaks were all intentionals - Canon websites were the ones posting such leaks on the several last models to date, prior to the official announcements. Of course, some, like the EOS 300D and EOS 400D, were kept strictly confidential even from the usual 3rd-party digital imaging websites despite the leaks, much to their chagrin.
The original 1D had no official leak of its own. What it had instead was the similar disastisfactions as can be seen now among Canon users threatening to jump ship to Nikon and having "conclusions" that "Canon has lost its sense of direction" where DSLRs are concerned. Prior to the 1D's announcement, Canon only had the EOS D30 to sell. It was nothing when compared to Nikon's D1H and D1X then.
Canon's original 1D was a big announcement for the company. And with the 20th anniversary of the EOS System, I am sure Canon won't disappoint us despite the zero leaks so far of any new EOS camera prior to PMA 2007.
I just shuffled through the last few pages on here and I can tell that FM'ers really like drama. How many right now are watching a Tyra Banks TV show? Seriously? You? You? Over there? ;0D

Back in my traveling days, I ate at restaurants alone. Often the young host or hostess would ask, "Just one?" I'd sometimes say, "No, my friend Harvey here will eat too." Over the course of a decade, exactly one hostess knew what I was talking about and laughed. I had to explain it to all the others.
Next question: Harvey was what kind of animal (the name)?
I know Google will find it for your quickly but does anyone know from memory?
Although Chinese new year is pretty big in Hong Kong, it's definitely not a week long. Hong Kong is a commercial center for Asia and shutting it down for a whole week literally cost billions in lost business revenues.
Most people in Hong Kong celebrate on the day of and possibly the weekend prior if it doesn't fall on a weekend for family gatherings much like anyone would do for Christmas in Europe or North America.

Oh come on now. Canon isn't that perfect. I personally know this is not true. I was told everything in detail including all the specific specs and pricing of one of the 1 series models months before it hit the market by a Canon employee. All the specs and the pricing were correct to the "T." The specs and the pricing were not anything that was floating around as a rumor at the time. Not even close. So I do know first hand that Canon leaks. I also know other people have picked up leaks from Canon employees and they have been correct. Leaks are out there even now.

I do business with Asia and most of my Asian business partners said "good-bye and see ya!" on their last day on Wednesday and won't be back to work until later next week. This has happened every year for nearly 20 years that I've been doing business with Asia. The whole industry comes to a stand-still.
