Maybe a little - but I'm more worried about how that plane is gonna take off with that silly upside down cat-in-the-hat sock attached to its antenna!

I quit trying with airliners.net. Seems to me, you have to be an ATP airline pilot and have every little detail correct in and about the photo.

I have ZERO photos that have been accepted there. I've been rejected for not knowing the N # (even when it wasnt in the photo), not knowing the pilot, etc. I think on one occasion, I didn't know the flight # of an airliner I shot on landing with a nice skyline background, and was rejected because of that... simply rediculous in my opinion.

I had a Mustang Air-to-Air moment yesterday. Coming back from a local auto race where I shot a few, I noticed a large amount of law enforcement on the interstate. Then I noticed not a State Patrol helicopter, but a military Blackhawk about 500' AGL over the interstate. Would have made for a spectacular shot, but I didnt want to cause a wreck with my trying to get to the shoulder, stop, and pull out my camera. I just turned off my stereo, opened my sunroof, and drove looking straight up.

Dear WP,

Nope, but you probably saw Gunny in his new Six. Was it the South African scheme? It's a pristine Six and Gunny is flying the heck out of it.

could have been, but way too far to see the colors. i heard "the radial rumble" and spotted the bird probably 2 miles out. i was just on the south side of arlington at the time, and am only pretty certain it was a texan.

Hi Rodolfo,

I have two bits of info. The restaraunt options are, depending on our group size, Friar Tuck's on the nw edge of the field, the dining room at the Hilton on the field, or West End Pizza across from the Hilton. I've gotten the ok for our dawn patrol and we can even get in earlier than 7 am if we want to. It's getting late in the game here, so I need to know how many folks would want to join us for that event. Can everyone let me know by the end of this week? I need to let Wittman/AirVenture security know if we're doing this, and a head count by then. Just e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll compile the list. I want to limit each group to about 10 people so if there's more, we'll just do successive mornings. Based upon the info I have from y'all on Friday, we'll either make a plan or pull the plug.

Gunny will be there with the P-38 and we will have special access to it for the early morning photo sessions.

Looking forward to AirVenture '07!

P.S. Jim Koepnick, my Buddy who heads up the EAA photo team, just e-mailed me with an additional choice, The Charcoal Pit, between the Friar Tuck's and The Hilton. Gosh, I'm sick of the name "Hilton"!

Hey guys, I'm a long, long time reader, first time poster (on this thread).

EAA is less than a month away.... If I knew then what I know now, I know I would have a few better images from last year. You guys have given me tons of info to use this year. Here are a couple of last years pics.

PS - I will be spending my days at EAA in the Warbirds gift shop making dog tags. Stop by and say Hi if you get a chance, better yet, stop by and buy some tags. I'd love to meet a few of you sometime.

No problems, thanks though Dan. A buddy of mine down the road that I went flying with the other day flew the OV-10 and some other jet bombers in the war days. He even had to eject out of one.You should hear his stories of the Panama crisis times and such. He also is part of the bunch called The Chozen Few. Have a good one.
