I haven't ventrued too deep into sunset / golden hour shooting, however, I took this one last year of the GEICO skytpers at Oceana, and something about it screamed at me to make a 16x24 print of it that is now hanging behind me in my office.

i'll absolutely take you up on that! the truth is, i've had a love affair with airplanes for most of my life. as a kid growing up on a farm, i didn't have a lot of options for social activities and the like, so i got into building models of ww2 aircraft. at that time, it was as much a passion for me as photography is today, and i studied them diligently. every model project included lots of trips to the library! today, i take every opportunity to get close to one. i've been to the cavanaugh several times, and i've undoubtedly seen you in your texan cruising the nortex sky. there's no mistaking the sound of a 60 year-old radial pratt whitney plowing through the clouds, and i always stop what i'm doing and take a look. my girlfriend thinks i'm strange because i get so geeked up when we see an unusual plane, and i can usually tell her what it is right away.

so...yeah, i'll come to mckinney, even if it's just to hear the engines!

by the way, if you weren't at wings over houston, here's one that pretty much sums up the day...

Since Sagar has introduced the rotors, here is a sequence of an HH-60 banking and pulling up before dropping a line for a swimmer rescue.

Man these are some amazing shots, good work all. Gotta love it...
Finally broke down and had to subscribe. Hi ya Fred, and all.

First shot is an F15 with that erie glow from the canopy Jim was talking about when using a polarizer. I wouldn't do it again but wanted to try it with one to see the outcome.

Here goes the upload, hope you enjoy.

Don't bother. Unless it's smack in the middle of the frame, the photo sucks to Anet. They have never heard of the rule of thirds. Never tried to get a photo on that site, and never will. I sometimes read the forums just to get a chuckle out of the posts wondering why a photo got rejected.

You're telling me!! I've got 43 shots there now, but recently the pickness level has reached the level of stratoshperic-stupidity!! I've had photo rejected for being too 'soft' when in fact if I sharpened them any more, I would get 'stair-stepping':
http://k41.pbase.com/o6/01/755801/1/75673376.XzBB9DgB.2513.jpg
, then later on get photos rejected for being 'oversharpened'.

This one was rejected for being too dark:

Maybe it wasn't rejected due to being too dark but instead due to their bulbs being a bit too dim!

A lot of really great shots lately - this thread is on my permanent link list, that's for sure!
