And what happend to better DR and ISO 6400? I though it would come with Digic III.
Aah, I guess I am a bit disappointed.
Better DR and higher ISO are both depending on the sensor, not on the chip that does the digitial post processing and the rest. Again, read the Canon Full Frame White Paper (an easy find with google or the like) and find out why DR and SNR are determined by the sensor itself. All DIGIC I/II/III can do is blurr to suppress noise and destroy detail in the proces.
By the way, did anyone find out what Canon meant with The Legend? I got the Canon September newsletter today ( isn't it october?) and that mentions the 10th birthday of the Ixus, and an overview/history of this "legend".
Thanks to all of you who have sent me messages and info about this rumour thread. I'm disappointed (but not overly surprised) that I'll not be getting a new 1 series camera until the spring. Still, the company bank account can breath a sigh of relief for a bit...
I'll be keeping up the Northlight rumours page, ready for PMA ;-)
Now to get back to some paying work :-)

PS if anyone is curious I just added a short review of using the TS-E90 to the one I did a while ago about the TS-E24 -- The TS-E90 is a good sharp lens and should be good enough to show how much of an improvement there is when they eventually bring out a "Mark 3"
CHIBA, Japan (Reuters) - Canon (7751.T) and Toshiba (6502.T) said on Tuesday they would start mass production of ultra-thin flat-panel TVs in early 2008, entering a market dominated by makers such as Matsushita Electric Industrial (6752.T) and Samsung Eletronics (005930.KS).
Canon Inc. and Toshiba Corp. are developing a new type of flat panels, which they say are thinner and consume less energy than the existing liquid crystal display (LCD) and plasma televisions.
The production of the new surface-conduction electron-emitter display (SED) TVs would start at the end of 2007, and expand into full-scale in 2008, Kazunori Fukuma, head of the venture set up by Canon and Toshiba, said at Japan's biggest electronics trade show, where he presented a 55-inch full high-definition TV for the first time.
Where have you heard that? The largest photography product convention of the year just ended 3 days ago and Canon announced 1 new entry DSLR and 7 new point and shoot cameras. It would make zero sense for Canon to announce a new pro camera a few days after this convention ended.
I know that but I heard they might be going to announce it in about 2 weeks. It was from my camera buyer where I work. I just don't know if he was blowing smoke up my (*&& becouse he knows I want to buy a new camera.

be wary of someone with the screenname nikon90s stirring up rumors about Canon gear.
Dude, that's a little harsh. He's asking because he's asking, no need to get upset/defensive. Brand affinity is not like religion or anything. Can't we all just get along?
As for the question at hand, it would be REALLY odd for them to announce anything in the next few weeks. Even if they weren't going to have a real product before the end of the year they would have announced at photokina to steal some limelight - the 2 lenses and "imagetanks" they announced won't be released for a while. I guess it's possible the backlash is stronger than they thought, causing them to reverse an earlier decision not to announce before being ready.
