http://www.pbase.com/reynoldsphotography/equipment The last 5 pictures are of this lens (well, not THIS one, but this model). I just read yesterday that they sell new for $80,000 and there are only 10 in the world. Sports Illustrated owns 2.

Makes you wonder what the seller used to use it for...?

Allegedly, the Sultan of Brunei owns another two.

The pics you posted came from this article:
http://www.dvinfo.net/canon/images/images17.php
where they tagged a 1200mm onto an XL1 and a 2xTC to get a 35mm equivalent of a 17280mm lens. Phew!!

Two years ago a shop in Melbourne was giving away a free CAR if you bought one of these. I think the asking price was AU$120,000

WOWZERS that's more than I paid for my house!
Should be able to see a flea on a Deer's ass at 100yrds with that.

This hasta be a candidate for the MOST expensive camera lens you can get!!

Here's another shot of the lens, presumably at a Canon day.

Note the wire loop around the lens handle to stop people walking off with it!

How about a 1200/f8 with IS for a mere $7300? Yep, a 600/f4 IS with a 2x TC.

Does anyone know which RSS plate I'll need? I can seem to find it on their site. Will my BH-1 hold it?

That wire loop is to keep the CAMERA from walking away.! There is NO fear of anyone walking anywhere with that lens without being noticed. They sure aren't going to run with it.

If you use the "cheap" Tamron you will retain auto-focus! .
