We heard the same snobs complaining about Cosina Voigtländer. Nothing has changed. Give it a few years and the anxiety will fade.
I think it has to do with some anxiety when being vested in expensive Leica lens gear and now seeing decent competition from a lens made in China for a small fraction what was paid for the Leica lens. I am kind of in the same boat since I am also vested in some Leica M lenses - I recently for example just bought my first Summilux lens, the 50/1.4 vII. But I don't see cheaper and well built Chinese lenses as a threat since I am well aware that no lens is exactly like another. I see it all the time from the bunch of 50 mm LTM and M lenses I own - each is different! Never a mistake in the market to have choices. Like a good wine - not always the most expensive one tastes subjectively best. It is just fun to be able to have a choice and select one of them depending on mood or company.
