ArtIsRight posted his photography comparison of the Mac Mini M6. The section on Denoise shows that the M6 is ~10% faster than the M5 Max. That would suggest the base M6 system could now possibly be the fastest to run denoise in the table from this thread, tying the M2 Ultra score that was posted. A similar performance jump was seen with masking as well. This is a huge jump and becomes the new baseline for future Mac systems.
It looks like the M7 will definitely be the time to do an upgrade, whether that is for the Base, Pro or Max. For certain functions this jump is comparable from when Apple went from Intel to Apple M1. ...Show more →
The M6 Mac Mini in that test had only the single 256gb ssd and 16GB memory. Going to 512gb would double the SSD speed and help with some of those tests. Upgrading memory to 24gb would also increase memory bandwidth by 10%. So there is even more potential with the base M6 system

It’s a bummer to see the benchmarks all over the place for Adobe software, and it doesn’t always get fixed….so we can often pay for a system and not get the speed we paid for.
M6 stats on AIDenoise sure do seem to show it’s using the NPU. It has neural acceleration in the gpu cores, but so does the M5 series.

I think what these test show is the dependence on the Neural Engine for Denoise. The new dual 16 core Neural Engine in the base M6 is what allows it to be faster than the M5 Max for Denoise. The doubling of these Neural Engine cores has really helped with this.

In addition to the M6 Mac Mini, the M6 Macbook Pro and the M6 iMac are now also available. Hopefully someone can post the results from their M6 Mac, based on the 60mp file in this thread.
