Thanks for the update and thanks to everyone who has sent data.

I re-ordered the table (slow to fast). Looking forward to some Ultra data with 2x the NE cores and 2x the GPU cores

I got 8 sec's for your 50 MB file on my M2 Ultra before mine was around 12 sec's for 50 MB file before the update!.

Mac specs's :
The Mac Studio "M2 Ultra" 24-Core CPU / 60-Core GPU -- features a 3.68 GHz Apple M2 Ultra processor with twenty four cores (sixteen performance cores and eight efficiency cores), a 60-core GPU, a 32-core Neural Engine, a "Media Engine" that provides hardware acceleration for video encoding and decoding, 64 GB of "unified" onboard RAM.
1TB hard-drive.

Thanks! Fastest yet, but not by much if you have a recent M5 Max

Def feels quicker on my PC. Subject mask is noticeably improved as well, but still no match for portrait hair.

Also, still very slow when going back and looking at images that have been de-noised. Working on those files is a drag still.

More information about my computer:
M1 Max MBP
24 GPU
32GB RAM
2TB HD

I was hoping to get 5-8 years out of my M2 Max MBP 64GB 2TB ... sounds like this could be a nice bump to get me there.

A couple more data points including a MacBook Air with the base chip. Only a few before/afters but no-one breaking 2x performance improvement and Jeff told me he's getting 35-40%. I wonder what Adobe are smoking saying that it would be 2.4-3.6 improvement,

Any chance you could download the test file and measure how long it takes?

Sure thing. It took 19.80 secs on my Mac Mini M2 Pro (16gb RAM)

Great thanks. So far as I can see there's only 1 Mac Mini configuration for an M2 Pro. Is this it?

Apple M2 Pro chip

10-core CPU with 6 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores

16-core GPU

16-core Neural Engine

60 mp sony A7Cr raw file: 20 seconds
Prior to update, was approx 60 seconds.

Nice, the 1st one to get an improvement as much as Adobe outlined

I've been fooling around graphing parameters to see what best correlates. I'll load a couple tomorrow.

Finally installed the update. (Had a bit of a mess, likely due to some older and possibly corrupt preferences. Sigh.)

But the AI Denoise feature has definitely sped up a lot!

I'm not seeing LrC 15.4 as an available update. A quick search suggested that 15.4 was pulled because of a serious bug that could cause data loss?

Calling @jhapeman

I'll add M1 Pro when I update. For some reason LrC 15.0.1 on the M1 Pro fails to run AI Denoise on the test file after about 10-15 seconds. I did a reboot and still won't process it. I updated to 15.3.1 (the most recent version I can download) and it's still not working with the test file or any other file that should otherwise be compatible. But instead of failing after ~10 seconds it immediately fails and opens a window stating it failed to apply adjustments. I'm baffled.

Meanwhile, my M4 Max Studio 16 core cpu, 40 core GPU, 48GB RAM (not sure how many ANE cores - 16??) currently on LrC 15.0.1 processes the test file in 20 seconds.

I'm not sure if that is optimum as the Denoise panel estimated 15 seconds but I have a ton of other apps, browser tabs, etc. open, as I usually do. My 45MP R5II files typically process in 12-15 seconds.

According to Jeff Hapeman back when he was posting the various M2, M3, M4 chipset benchmark threads, ANE would provide the biggest boost to the lower end chips with fewer GPU cores, rather than the Ultra chipsets. This is what I saw with the M1 Pro back on LrC v.13 when it briefly supported ANE again. And which I stubbornly held onto for as long as possible because of this. But eventually caved and updated to v15 for all the great new features.

Thanks for that update! I poked about on the Adobe forum and found this, though not from an Adobe employee

The circumstances are very limited: using Photo menu > Delete Rejected Photos while in the new Duplicates view mode causes unrejected photos to be deleted.

I was able to download LrC 15.4.1 today and the M4 Max Studio processed your test image in about 12 seconds, down from 20 seconds previously.

As a side note, the issue I had yesterday with my M1 system not being able to run Denoise also migrated to my M4 Max Studio. I think the reason was that when I opened Adobe's Creative Cloud app on the Studio, it automatically updated Camera Raw to 18.4, which broke compatibility with the version of LrC prior to 15.4 that was installed. And as a result, broke Denoise. I didn't see the 15.4.1 update earlier and was trying to find ways to revert to Camera Raw prior to 18.4 but couldn't find any manual download links on the Adobe site to do so.... And through Adobe's Creative Cloud app, Camera Raw is the only app listed that does not allow downloading previous versions. Frustrating! AI suggested a LrC downgrade to an older version to force installation of an older Camera Raw version, but not sure if that would have worked because I also have PS installed and fully up to date. But all is apparently good now that I was able to download 15.4.1.

Unfortunately because of this problem, with LrC 15.3.1 installed on my M1 Pro system, combined with Camera Raw 18.4, it means that I can't run a test on your file with LrC 15.3.1, but based on past experience with 45MP R5II files, which take about 45 seconds to run through Denoise, I would estimate it would take about a minute for the test file.

Having now just installed 15.4.1 on the M1 Pro system with 10 CPU cores, 16 GPU cores, 16GB RAM (16 ANE?), your test file processed in 28 seconds. An R5II file processed in 20 seconds (as opposed to around 45 seconds previously). On the M4 Max, R5II files average about 8 seconds (previously 12-15 seconds), while 24MP R6II files are about 5 seconds.

An additional note about how 15.4 is handling application of Denoise kind of in the background: while you can work on other files while running an AI settings batch application, I've found that you cannot paste new settings to files that previously had a batch application of AI settings as it interrupts the original batch. Once interrupted, it appears you can't actually edit the files that were previously still in the queue because LrC appears to think the pasted settings will still be applied. The only way to release those files from the queue and successfully restart a batch AI process, appears to be to restart LrC.
