"He took great pride in getting photographs straight out of the camera and not using photoshop on any of his photos. He loved to share his knowledge and love of photography as the "trenchmonkey" on various photography forums, such as Fred Miranda (FM) and Nikon Café. The "trenchmonkey" had quite a following on these forums and would provide good solid advice to fellow photographers based on his own real-life experience. He always seemed to add a little punny humor to photographs or comments he posted."
Very sorry to hear this news. I saw Will as a talented, straight talking guy whose contributions here were always an effort to assist. He had a way of passing along his vast knowledge of photography without being condescending. I'm sure he will be deeply missed by all those lucky enough to have known him. My condolences to his family and friends.

Just seeing this now, it makes me sad. Will was a tremendous inspiration and contributor here. Although we never met in person, Will helped me with my D7000 out of camera settings and technique. He was a great fan of the D7000 and I got a lot of mileage out of THREE of them shooting sports due to Will's help. He really loved photography and people, and it showed.
Just seeing this now, but wow this is pretty devastating. I interacted with Trenchmonkey over a decade ago when he sold me one of my first lenses for wildlife photography when I was still a high school student. I still love that he called it "monkeyglass" and he was very encouraging when it came to giving me feedback on my photos. He is a very formative person in my own development of a nature photographer. Many thanks to him and the community, RIP to a legendary FMer.
His contribution to the community won't be forgotten, so sorry to hear of his passing. Even after years of being inactive here it hurts to read this news.
So sorry to hear this, after corresponding here and there on FM with Will, my wife and I ended up staying in our RV overnight at his place when we were going x-country; was such a pleasure to meet him in person and spend some time talking Nikon and life....
I haven’t spent much time on FM over the last 5 or so years and today randomly thought about Will, so I logged on and did a search on his name to see if he was still on here and to see what he was up to. Sad to hear he passed away recently. He was a really funny guy and I enjoyed PMing off and on for probably 15yrs. Hopefully, his wife reads all these comments and realizes how he brought a lot of smiles and laughs to a lot of random people he’d never meet in person. Hoping to meet him someday down the road in Heaven when my time comes.
