Can anyone comment on how fast you can move around the focus point using the joystick?

To me if I hold it in any direction it goes too fast. I must learn to do it in small taps.

Reading this long explanation p8#20 (thanks for that) I realized I did not do a sensor calibration and while doing downloads I did not see a suggestion to do that. Must be in a menu item somewhere.

Sensor Calibration

Read till the end. Somewhat confusing and the manual is rather vague. So, does anyone know if calibration eliminates the display of stuck pixels in raw files? Also, what ISO is used when running the menu function? Is there another value to running the calibration and why only XCD lenses?

My X2D II came in.

Quick observations and notes from an X2D owner:

- New material/finish is different. You may mistake it for plastic, it is not.
- Body Color, I would call it a dark gray, but I won't hesitate to say I like the color the X2D more
- Subtle Hasselblad branding, no paint or laser engraving on the front, is likely a good move for most
- Camera feels a bit lighter weight
- Body Doors did receive a nice little update. For us CFexpress card users, you'll notice that for sure
- New Grip Pattern is fine,

Nice input on the diff's.

While the new AF capabilities are top of list for many folks ... curious about manual focus experience diff's. Particularly with non-V lenses if you've got any of those, but V lenses, too.

So I have old and new V lenses and a non-V lens.

I will check, but I would not expect to see any difference between using old V lenses on my 907x?100C and this new camera. Although that does make me wonder how moving the focus point around with old lenses will work.

It works seamlessly with my 135/2.8, but yet to try my beloved old lenses, like the difficult to focus 350SA for example. Does IBIS help? I will find out since using a RRS rail under that 350 on my 907X/100C makes for laborious shooting at times.

Never having an older X1D or X2D, I find the joystick a familiar item (SL3 and SL3S come to mind) and it seems normal to my touch.

OK, so I just mounted my CF180 with X-V Hassy adapter to the X2DII. As soon as I tapped the joystick it zoomed as normal and then with the joystick I can move the focus point around the frame. Apparently IBIS helped my handheld exposure, but how can I tell if IBIS is even working with an adapter? Just answered my own question because under "stabilization" one can tell the camera the FL of the lens you are using with an adapter and that helps IBIS do its job.

BTW as I used old lenses a lot on my 907X/100C after taking an image I can tell you the X2DII goes back to the ready screen A LOT FASTER than the 907X/100C. It is darned near instant like less than 1 second in estimation.

For sure I am liking this camera even more with each exposure. So easy to use.

The orange "dot" is Hasselblad's trademark; it has been there on the H series as well.

I get that it has always been there. My question was wondering if there is a sticker or tape or something folks have come up with to make it less obnoxious? As Leica owners do with their red dot?

Thanks. I had a problem with the Q3 43 being too slow to move the focus point using the sluggish directional pad.

I'm pleased to hear the joystick on the X2D II has high sensitivity. I really don't want to use a digital camera looking at the rear display to change the focus point with my finger. I hated that with the Q3 43 - sold it.

Here's to hoping they add diagonal movement to the joystick as I hear it's only up down left right at the moment.

Agreed, this makes using the joystick far more frustrating than it needs to be. It's a very odd choice as well, I'm not sure I've encountered a joystick on a camera that doesn't support diagonal movement. When going diagonally, this doubles the number of 'clicks' you need to make. I find myself using the touch screen as a result.

Certainly not a camera to meet my own needs, but I have to applaud Hasselblad for coming in that price point!

Will sell like hotcakes.

Yes, it now seems most dealers are told end of September for their next shipments. Glad I got mine.

Used my CF 180 with HB adapter and before taking a shot the camera stated that it had no idea what lens was on the adapter so dial in the FL so that IBIS could optimize it for the lens used.

Handheld from about 30ft away @f16. f22 would have been better. FWIW, then used the LLL Z21 with Fotodiox L/M-XCD adapter @f1.5 for second image, but from a closer distance of perhaps 10-12 feet.. Also adjusted the stabilization to reflect a 50mm lens. I missed focus here, but it was all me.

no reason to shoot Auto ISO in M for me and yes you can customize dial w click for ISO
1 Set Shutter Speed
2. Set Aperture
Camera is ISOless @200 ISO so if ETTR is clipping reduce ISO by up to three stops, If not clipping increase ISO from 50 to ETTR. SHOOT

This method works because you will always have your subject at the right SS and you depth of field.

Options for assigning ISO
Top-plate button: You can reassign the dedicated WB/ISO button on the top plate to control a different function, and assign ISO to one of the control wheels instead. The front and rear control dials, as well as the push-in function on both, are now fully customizable.
XCD-V lens control ring: For the new series of XCD-V lenses (like the 38V, 55V, and 90V), you can use the programmable control ring on the lens to directly adjust the ISO. This is often the most direct and intuitive method for photographers who prioritize hands-on control.
Custom function buttons: The X2D II 100C offers a total of eight customizable buttons, including the new joystick and push functions on the dials. You can assign ISO to one of these buttons, allowing for quick access without needing to navigate menus.
Why this is a major upgrade
The ability to customize ISO to a dial or ring addresses a common user request from previous models. It provides a more fluid and intuitive shooting experience, especially for photographers who prefer a hands-on approach to managing their exposure triangle (ISO, aperture, and shutter speed).

Yes, on the Hasselblad X2D II, you can assign exposure compensation to one of the custom dials, allowing for on-the-fly adjustments. This is done through the camera's customization options, a feature that has been expanded and refined on the updated X2D II.
Specifically, the following options are available for assigning custom functions:
Customizable buttons: The X2D II has several customizable buttons, including two unlabeled ones on the front and back of the camera, and another accessed by pressing down on the front control dial. Exposure compensation can be assigned to one of these.
Customizable dials: The two control dials on the top plate (the rear dial and the front dial) can be used to control different settings. Exposure compensation is one of the default functions for these, but you can reassign it.
XCD V-series lens ring: If you are using one of the newer XCD V-series lenses, the lens has a programmable ring that can be customized to adjust exposure compensation.
For the original X2D 100C, users often customized one of the body's scroll wheels to control exposure compensation. With the X2D II, the expanded control options provide even more flexibility for setting up the camera to your preferences.

I shoot with Auto ISO to keep the EVF/LCD bright enough, but I may use M mode with exposure simulation turned off.

How do you customize front and rear dials? The manual says you can, but they probably only refer to clicking them and changing the value of the selected function

I find I wish it gradually sped up the longer you hold it. Right now it goes from 0-60mph in an instant which makes it tough to use in a bit of a cramped space and being a relatively small joystick.
