I don't have any RF lens on my Canon R or R5 – for autofocus, I only use Canon EF lenses (16-35L, 24L, 50L, 85L, 135L, 200L, 300L, 70-300L) or Tamron 35/1.4 SP lenses, Irix 11 and 15. Besides, thanks to the EF->RF lens, I use a drop-in filter adapter – a polarizer for everything or an ND filter. This is the added feature, and you can even have ND filters with the Irix 11mm. For manual focus, I use a Leica M adapter and Voigtlanders with M mount, but that's only on the R5 because of the better sensor for those things. I also think the EF 70-300L is a very good Canon lens and quite compact.

I just bought an EF 500mm F4 Mark II in mint condition, looking forward using it with my R5 Mark II
The 500/4 II is a great lens optically. I've used several of them on everything from the 1Dx, 5DsR, 5D IV to modern cameras like the R5, R7, and R5 II. Make sure you also get a 1.4x III since there is nearly no loss of IQ. Test any used lens well since youi don't know if it has propblems.
Note that the IS will normally run on with R bodies.

Yep, I also bought the 1.4x III with the lens. I have taken the initial test shots, but it's so dark here ATM that I'll have to wait for a bit of sunlight

EF 24-70/2.8 II must be excellent, still mostly $1100+ for anything in nice shape from MPB or KEH
See my above post Mike of "Guess".
I only have had 2 EF zooms all my Canon career. This is one of them.
Extra sharp for a zoom!

Tried to do a photoshoot at home today. I need more space! And I need to learn how to use my lights. But of the bunch of picture I took, I think this one wasn't too bad.

I've done most of my testing indoors. Always use a tripod and a LED flashlight or flash to illuminate the target subject.
