No I do not! Do you see a problem? Let me know if you do.

I DO have "hand tremors". I use "IS" in all my Canon EF lenses and IBIS and OIS in my Fuji.

So if you see unsharp images, PLEASE let me know!
Thanks Jim!

No, I don't see any soft images, that's why I was curious. Excellent technique, Dan

Whew! I am getting older fast Jim and what I "think" is sharp, or any OTHER technique, can be diminished by my aged eyes. I rely on "AF button" 100%.
If it "warns me", or rather doesn't warn me of accurate AF, then I pay closer attention to the vf.
Thanks again!

Just bought the 16-35/4Lis to pair with the 70-200/4Lisii I bought a while back.

The beauty of EF is that I can swap it between different mounts and not just canon either.

I slapped the M10 on the 300/4Lis, a surreal experience for sure.

Crazy !!

Seems like your New Year’s resolution of not buying anymore gear was just BS. You seem to acquire so much gear on an ongoing basis…do you actually go out and use it?

I did keep off (eBay) for a few months but I was bored and took a peek…. 🫣

But tbh I’m really scraping the barrel these days, I seem to have what gets listed and stuff I don’t have I don’t want anyway.

The 16-35 has just arrived today (not yet opened) I’ve just got in from work, quick shower and off out to try it out.

In a few years I’ll probably start whittling it down as there is just too much now. But it’s fun trying out different lens/body combinations.

I’m not a collector, I just enjoy the hunt. I could never afford any of this when I was younger. So forgive me if I’m making up for lost time 🤣👍🏻

Imagine if I smoked, gambled, drank alcohol…I would have spent way more and would have nothing to show for it.. horses for courses..an’ all that!!

I agree with PixelPuffin on the gear thing. I have tried probably 20 Canon Cameras (film & digital) over the last 20 years or so. And several Pentax MF bodies, maybe 4 or 5 6x6 folders, quite a few 35mm folders, a few TLR bodies and probably more. And yes, I shot them all. I really did enjoy playing with them, figuring them out,

Along the way, I learned a bunch about the mechanics of photography. I even managed to get my 580EX II to work just fine on several old film cameras. The only on-camera control is FIRE/or NOT. Power is adjusted by putting the flash in manual mode, and setting the power you need. Oh, that was back in the day when I could do exposure calculations in my head. That skill has departed.

Some of the more interesting things I tripped over in my experimenting. The Pentax 645N had an Fv mode 25 years before Canon 'came up with' the same idea. AFAIK, the Mamiya VI-IVb was the only 6x6 folder that focused with no moving parts in the lens; it moved the film plane to focus. If you knew the little trick, you could use 220 film holders with 120 film in all of the film 645s. One of the greatest limitations of the 645 film cameras was a 1/60 max sync speed for flash. Which could easily be overcome by using an appropriate lens. IIRC, the max shutter speed on a 645/N/NII was 1/1000. You could easily get 1/500 sync speed with a leaf-shutter lens.

My first camera was a Brownie Hawkeye Flash. A 620 6x6 film camera with a fixed aperture, fixed shutter speed and fixed focus. My mom got that for me when I was 8 or 9 years old.. Back in the middle '60s, $7 was a lot of money for a kids toy.

I've had a lot of fun with probably at least 50 different cameras over the years. I know I only shot one roll with some of them. I had fun with them, which is kinda the point of toys.

There is a seller on the B/S forum asking $140 for a 7 condition 5D2 with 180,000 miles on the odometer. If I didn't already have a 5D2 I would jump on it. Some people have taken well over 250,000 shots without issue.

My only EF-mount lens is a Sigma 60-600mm that I picked up for shooting video. It's not quite as sharp as the RF 100-500L, but it has a more versatile range, and full-time manual focusing rather than focus-by-wire.

I added the EF16-35mm f4 IS to my arsenal last month or now 2 mos....I need "IS" for hand tremors and this lens is extremely sharp for a zoom. The prices are very nice... for dslr eqpt.

I do this in my mindspace..or lack thereof...I am confined to my "photography space(area/locale)"...I do have a beautiful small town next to me that provides "targets" for all my lenses. Mother Nature's seasonal pallette, a great local govt/community Arts program, it has me taking different lenses out at different times to see what different perspectives a subject can provide with different lenses. I can go from the 1700's to 2026 for subjects...Summer, Fall, Winter to Spring...so this "makes" me go out for some "me" time, however little it be. My "shadows" are getting less and less everyday.....

This is a rhetorical ramble....just mentioning this....hoarding? Gotta support the economy bro's!

Sadly I’ve returned mine
The seller had described front and rear glass as Excellent…. And they seemed to be

But at 16mm with my eye up close to the rear element and a torch glancing off the front element it was riddled with fungus 😩
If you zoomed to 20mm it went out of focus and throughout the rest of the zoom range . But 16mm showed without doubt it was infected

Not to worry I still have the older 17-40, that’ll do until I find another.

But
Every cloud has a silver lining…

I spotted a Tokina ATX 28-70/2.8
Spares or repair
Starting bid £1.95
Messaged the seller to ask if it was busted AF of Fungus.. he replied saying he didn’t know, it had come bundled with a film camera which he’d sold and had no way of testing.. urged me to make a offer of £10… so I did!!

It arrived today
I wasn’t holding my breath as I opened the box, peered through the lens and it seemed clear…actually seemed spotless.
Nearest camera was 6D, ideally mirrorless would have been better with its peaking
But I put it on the 6D and decided to have a go at manual focusing , being 2.8 should make it a little easier.
Focused it, pressed the button halfway and the AF sprang into action and corrected the focus!!

Seems to be working just fine.
So, you win some , you lose some
🤣👍🏻

A couple of shots of my son at his eight grade graduation with the EF 135 f/2L. That is still a really nice lens.

Yes. Taken with a Sigma fp-L and an EF 500mm... and some extension tubes.

I'll be buying 11-24L soon most probably. Thanks to the RF, that lens is no longer prohibitively expensive even in second hands...

Here's two photos with the 200mm 2.8 and the 400mm 5.6, two of my favorite lenses. Still use these on my 6D and my Sony.
