Tried to do a photoshoot at home today. I need more space! And I need to learn how to use my lights. But of the bunch of picture I took, I think this one wasn't too bad.
A beautiful young woman Yemil!
I suck at portraits! Lightings is my main problem.
I believe this is very well done. No hot spots or clashes! The bg is wonderful!
You did her proud!

I went out this morning with a plan to test my Canon 7D MKII, 5DsR, and Leica SL2 on some flying eagles. It's been a couple of years since I've done that and I was curious to see the results from the SL2 and 5DsR since in the past I've relied on the 7D II. Well they weren't feeding this morning so it turned into a test of my old EF 600/4.0 on the Canon bodies against the Sigma 150-600 on the Leica. Light is not good in this area but the old EF 600mm delivered as usual. Higher ISO on all the bodies with the 5DsR giving me much cleaner images than the 7D II.
7D II
5DsR
5DsR -manual focus
5DsR
And for comparison, the same Eagle as above with the Leica SL2 and Sigma 150-600.
At this size and resolution they all gave a fine result but for the most part the EF 600/4.0 delivered sharper shots at full size and resolution on the 5DsR over the zoom on the Leica. But you had to pixel peep to see it.
Jim,
My eyes are olde but I am not seeing any "differences" in bodies that would make me "weep".
Most excellent compositions! Great feather detail and texture...crisp lines surrounding the eagle..great light. The bokeh of the 600 is always great!
Dan..Happy New Year!

Reality is, even up to a decent print size I'm not seeing much difference. And these were all done with the same "canned action set" in photoshop that I really setup for my 7D II shots. I had to look at things full size to see a real difference.
But last night I took more care with the post processing and found there's much more to be had. For one thing, I found I got better results using DPP as my RAW conversion over ACR for both the 7D II and 5DsR files. That despite just using the default with DPP while I tweaked things with ACR. Of course that's probably due to my poor skills with any software more than anything.
I keep hoping for some major snows to "trap" me in the house for awhile so that I finally set down and got through some old photoshop tutorials to improve my skills. It's so hard otherwise to spend much time on the computer.
Tried something different this morning to see how well it would work. My Canon EF 600/4.0 and the 1.4x APO teleconverter mounted to my Leica SL2. Even shooting at iso 1600 with slow shutter speeds (1/320-1/500) a lot, the images worked. Working off a tripod and sometimes using a 2 second timer. I really need a remote trigger for the Leica to really do it right.
These are just some quickly processed samples as I reviewed the shots. I am running old Photoshop CS6 Suite and the old school noise reduction seemed to do ok with these.
5DSR and EF28-300mmf3.5 IS..I forgot I even had this lens. And having hand tremors, the IS will help eliminate that...and did so in many this morning. Went from 27F to 58F in 12 hours....I had "sherpa lined" pants on with a heavy vest and was sweating at 10am.

The house is over 250 years old. The "Frederick Red" original bricks were starting to really deteriorate so the owner had the brick repaired and painted them white in October 2025
Dan
Oh!! The house does list to the right due to the ground after 250+ years. I did NOT level it.
Used the EF 600/4.0 with a 1.4x yesterday as I tested out my new Canon R5 MK II.
I do have issues right now working the Raw images from the R5 II. My old standalone photo editing machine doesn't recognize the file format and cannot run the latest version of DPP. For now my MacBook can but that leaves me using Affinity for post process which I don' t know how to use very well.
