Always interesting seeing Arte di mano recommended as if they are a luxury brand that is deserving of the price. My used Hassy came with one and I am thoroughly unimpressed for the MSRP they ask for them. I've had $50 half cases that felt better to me.
Maybe you got a knockoff or they chose an odd leather option. I've had several of their cases for Q and M cameras and the fit and feel is peerless.

I had one included when I picked up a used M10 and told the seller it's not something I would use. Man was I wrong. It was so smooth and I just loved the feel of it on the camera. I almost miss it more than the m10.
The Voigtlander 50mm f/3.5 Type I APO-LANTHAR in Safari green is sold out everywhere since it was a special edition. Only 250 were produced. It was out of stock but I see one in stock. It may be the last one as I can't imagine they have many of these:

One nice bonus is that the olive/safari style hood works perfectly on other 34mm thread chrome lenses like the CV 35/3.5 Color Skopar or the 40/2.8 Heliar. The hood is solid brass and the finish matches the lens perfectly. It's a seriously nice piece.

Thanks, I have been going back and forth on it since you first posted, I dont really need another lens, I have too many ("the one with most toys when you die wins"), but on the other hand it is tiny it does look good on the safari and I am not going to buy a Leica set of the new ones just have green ones so a compromise... I will have this one. I will have to see what it does on film as well, might not look look too out of place on a M4-2 (except I do have a F2.8 elmar from 1956 ... which is one of my film lenses)

Indeed. It would be a little funny to buy a whole lens just to justify using the green hood for the aesthetic. It's really more of a nice bonus for anyone who already owns one of those lenses.
There are plenty of Leica lenses where this combo works nicely. One example is the Leica Summaron-M 28mm f/5.6.
I was curious, BH just shipped to me, and so I logged back in to see if I got the only one- nope- they say it is in stock so there is at least one more left for any of you interested
get your cc out ! it is the season to contribute to the economy- and bonus no tariff

My 50 3.5 apo arrived today BH usual efficiency - I dont need to show it on my M11P safari, Fred did already, I guess I could on the M11 EV1 it looks ok not a wonderful match like the safari. I am going to have to try it on film as I won a minty M4-2 last leica auction and it needs a roll run through it- an apo 3.5 would be a good film lens. It too would be on black (oh well I got green/silver- I am not doing a fashion show.
Impressions,,, the lens delivery is like LLL metal caps.. just a sack not a case but it seems so LLL like. The lens is hefty for size like LLL such as the elcan. It was late in the day so I decided to shoot a couple of backyard plants at 3.5 shown. I like desert plants they have all sorts of contours for DOF and subject separation and spines that catch light they are good lens evaluation test subjects.......... The Sun was hitting these plants lighting them... click on the M11.
It was too late in the day for nearby mountains and infinity- tomorrow is another day and thenI can load a roll and test the new M4-2.

Winning is a funny word when you leave it all behind.
Seriously though, shooting with the CV 50/3.5 APO-Lanthar is no vanity at all, It's in my opinion on of the best 50mm on the market, performing at same level as the much bigger CV 50/2 APO. Getting it in Safari color to match the body is just a nice detail.
Fred, I noted the lens when you reviewed and showed on the safari, I didn't buy it then, I have an apo summicron 50, so the thought goes why buy a less lens. The other day when you reposted, I thought I wasn't going to buy the new green set of Leicas at what 15K for the set for my M11P safari and in a fit of "camera fashion" I bought what I thought might be the last one at BH, looks like they have at least one more. So my new "toy" arrived yesterday, and I am impressed with it, way exceeded my expectations. The packaging with LLL-like caps, the heft and build quality, and yes it looks good and green on my safari. I shot a few photos yesterday and thought it good, so I took it out this morning at dawn on my driveway with coffee wanting to get those shadows and morning glow with my local Tucson terrain details to put it to the test. I am rather surprised how much 3D pop it has at 3.5 with a good DOF. Scenery at 3.5 again looking for morning glowly colors and shadow on the mountains it is really good. The color seems to me like the apo summicron to be "real" not character like an apo summicron younger brother at 1/11th the cost. The 50 apo summicron wide open is much sharper- at 11X the list cost. Cost v performance to me seem great at the moment. I like my E39s and this is small like my E39s even thought E34 and the hood itself is E39. So I didn't need another lens- I have far too many 50s. Looking at this among my collection of 50s setting aside the fast lenses like Noct or Noktons the 1956 vintage elmar, 1966 rigid, LL rigid, elcan, and the apo summicron this one is in some sense most like the elmar but this one looks to be prominently in my rotation and I suspect it is better than my old elmar by a wide margin. I still have to check it on film (an elmar fav of mine)and want to shoot a roll of Ektar and see what I get. I can see why you are a fan of the lens- just using it for a very short time it exceeds my expectations.
Today I put it on my new M11 EV1, I did get the lens in a sort of camera fashion mode... but it does look fine on the EV1 in basic black just not great like my and your safari.
I did watch Jimmy Cheng
he was not impressed
Unlike him my tests are not controlled "tests" I just take the lens outdoors and find some light and see what I think and in the real world type photography I like what the lens is giving me...
Cosina really got their act together with this lens, the build quality, heft, metal caps, hood included, only thing missing is a green UV like LLL supplied with their safari 35/2. The presentation is quite LLL like, this is a limited edition special model, but maybe this will be a trend for Cosina to up their presentation game. If I was just handed the lens with caps I might well have thought it was a new LLL lens- it does seem to be using their model for delivery.

No kidding! Ok, you guys win. Fred keeps posting that darn picture of the lens on the Safari including the image of the VM 35/3.5 with the olive hood on it (UGH) and then EMH2025 your posts put me over the edge. I just ordered it from CameraQuest which was cheaper than B&H plus I like to order from Stephen when I can. B&H gets way too much of my money the way it is now. With Stephen's next day air, it should be here Tuesday.

Stephen already marked it as shipped on a Saturday no less. I really like doing business with him. He still shows in stock at $699, that is a pretty good deal IMHO. MAP Camera eBay has a used one for $918.50

BH shows all colors in stock as of now- so if green is not your thing- you can color match. I suppose black chrome would have been more sensible choice for camera fashion going with all my film and dig leicas.... but as fred showed the green is really great on the safari - and basic black is cheaper, much cheaper- all other colors are cheaper- there is quite a premium to make it green- (for money) seems once you slap on a green color whether cosina, leica, or LLL (35/2) price does go up..... no regrets
Aside from the custom colors, the special editions also include brass silver-chrome caps and a matching brass hood finished to complement the lens color, along with a lens pouch in the same tone. They're small details, but they do add up in terms of production cost.

Just try to be honest here, am I the only one who thinks “Voigtlander 50mm f/3.5 Type I APO-LANTHAR in Safari“ is ugly?
I mean really ugly, the two tone color paired with an obnoxious narrow neck look, I can’t even stare at for a minute longer 🤪
