Question for those who own or are considering the M11-P Safari: Does Leica offer spare batteries in the same safari color for this camera?
Apparently not. I’ve heard of a few reports that people were told to get a silver one.
I didn’t even ask. I have a spare for my M11 and M11M. I’ve never used it. Battery life is vast. And it’s just as easy to have a small power bank in the bag to top up the camera when needed. I keep it only for if there’s a complete failure of a battery.
I suppose if you shoot more than a thousand frames a day a spare becomes useful.

Thanks Gordon.
I suppose using a silver battery as a spare is doable since the camera has silver accents, but it's not ideal. It’s one downside of the new design where the battery bottom is visible, unlike the older models with a base plate that covered it. Sooner or later, that safari green battery will fail or lose its ability to hold a charge...and when that happens, it'll have to be silver from then on.

I assume it’s just stuck on. (I’m not going to try and remove it though). Maybe it’d be possible to swap out the colour plates on a new battery. Or a colour match paint job.
My HB X2D Earth Explorer just comes with the standard black battery and to be honest I hadn’t given it any thought until the safari people started discussions here and on LuF.

p.s. I picked mine up three days ago. Damn, it’s beautiful. And here’s me saying no more M’s. Also had a play with the M11D. Wow! And I also said I wasn’t getting a GFX RF……..
While the X2D looks good the M Safari is still my favorite special edition camera of all, so yeah my vote goes for the M11. flash wrote:
Which is better looking?
They both look great! If anything, I prefer the rather muted colour of the Hasselblad’s top plate. Good for you (and @highdesertmesa ) for buying one (the safari, I mean). The allure of Ms is hard to resist ….
(And I’d have to confess, if I ever were to weaken in my rather puritanical resolve not to buy any more new Leica kit (I can, for sure, completely understand the attraction), it could very well be a safari. And I really don’t need an X2D …. )

I have the black battery as my spare. It works because there’s no silver on the bottom plate or back of the camera anyway — kinda an either-or situation with silver or black battery. Not sure I’d want to “feature” or draw attention to the battery with a silver one anyway. Don’t think I’ve seen a photo of a silver battery on the Safari to know for sure.
I have asked leica about the spare safari battery for 2 weeks but got no replay yet. The battery life is quite poor,it last about 300 shoots or less. Mine also have some sensor defects and also waiting for a response from leica.

What type of sensor defect?
There seems to be a smudging white line of some sort on the surface of the sansoror or the bottom of the filter that is only visible under direct lighting. It doesn't really affect the image quality but I am sure it will affect the resale value of the camera in the future.
I forgot how to post photo here since it's been a long time but here is the link of the sensor defect. Here you can see few spects of dust sit on top of the filter and the white line appears to be few millimeters underneath the dust. https://flic.kr/p/2r6mKaw

Thanks for posting. That looks like a surface smudge or streak from a cleaning tool, probably from the factory. It should come off easily with a cotton swab, maybe even dry. You could also try the carbon tip from a "LensPen", just gently.
Regarding the M11-P Safari, it looks like the Cognac strap isn't included anymore. Does Leica sell that strap separately for this camera? I think the code is 18559, but it seems to be discontinued.
Did anyone find a third party strap alternative in Cognac color that looks good on the Safari?
