p.1 #1 · Leica M10 BP-SCL5 battery impossible to find in the US!
Hi everyone, it seems that the Leica BP-SCL5 battery has been out of stock for quite a while. However, I just discovered that PopFlash has some brand new ones available now. Act quickly if you need one!

Fred, Leica doesn't expect you to actually use your camera. Just to look at it, fondle it and show your neighbours. Why would you possibly need a battery for that?

It's my only digital Leica at the moment. My M-D seems to be at Wetzlar for an eternity of service.

Thanks for the offer! I ended up purchasing one from PopFlash. I'm not sure how many they have left in stock but wanted to share the info with the community.

Thanks for the heads up...
I hate having to spend $200 for Leica batteries, it seems like the worst type of price gouging. I get that the cameras are often hand assembled from unobtanium materials , but $200 seems excessive. I currently have 2 batteries for my well-worn M10 and will probably bite the bullet, but I can't help but feel a bit jaded by the price of a basic Li battery

That is one feature benefit of the D-Lux 8 having a joint development with Panasonic.
The Leica battery is $150
The Panasonic version of the same batter is only $49
The ProMaster 3rd party version is only $29
I just bought the ProMaster version. Batter life is so good I have yet to need the backup. But in the very rare case I do I am glad to only have to spend $29 for the security of having one.

Strange, I wonder why? Litigation?
I have no idea why.
I look every few months and have never seen any. I hope this will change one day.
Besides the price issue (well documented in 1bwana1's post), having multiple providers always feels safer.

Since the M240 and M10 series batteries are unique to those cameras I suspect there is not enough demand for a battery manufacturer to produce them continuously. More likely they are produced in batches as needed. Hopefully new batches are in the works.

I think they are just out of their current supply as they make them in batches. When I was in the Leica store in Paris looking at a used M10M they assured me that they have new batteries available for the M10 and will continue producing them. I do see on the Leica France online store that the M10 batteries are currently out of stock, but the M9 batteries are available. I'm pretty sure that this is a temporary situation.

If anyone's in a bind try calling Camera West. They show as out of stock online but i've gotten things from them before in person that show out of stock online.

Hi All,
I mistakenly purchased two new sealed M10 batteries from Popflash Camera so I am selling one of the new still sealed in box in the FS section for $178 and I will cover the shipping. I may even be open to a small discount from that asking as I don't need 3 batteries. FYI I paid full price $200.

Just to be clear here, you're talking about the dlux battery here, and not the BP-SCL5?
Gotta say, battery unobtaniom was not on my new-cam bingo card 😅

Hi folks,
While recent Leica batteries like the BP-SCL6 are easy to find (if too expensive), I cannot find the BP-SCL5 for my M10s or BP-SCL2 for my M240. Fortunately I have a few for my M11s.
I called Leica and was told that there were "supply issues".
I know there was mention several months ago about a shortage of M10 batteries, but evidently the situation has only gotten worse. Anyone hearing anything more about this?
It REALLY annoys me that Leica touts a "lifetime" of use from their cameras and yet cannot manage to keep the lifeblood of the cameras in production. Completely unacceptable.
