On a recent thread (this one?) Ashwin mentioned touching up a VM 28/2 v2 with black enamel paint (Testor's for model kits, IIRC). Time to fire up the airbrush and apply it to the LH-6 hood!

I may try this!

Yeah, the only reliable Cosina prediction is that they're unpredictable. 28/1.5 didn't overly surprise me because it's a gap in their lineup and also one that wasn't well addressed in the M system. It was only Leica and later 7Artisans (or TTArtisans?). But now we also have the Thypoch option. Cosina is not shy about stacking a slot with multiple variations, and variations of those variations. 50/1.0, 50/1.1 (discontinued?), 50/1.2, 50/1.5 Nokton (SC, MC and silver, black and panda variants), 50/1.5 Heliar, 50/2 APO, 50/3.5 Heliar.... 35/1.2, 35/1.4 classic (SC, MC), 35/1.5 (Type I, II), 35/2 (Type I, II),...Show more

Some announcements might come very soon, maybe even today. As you mentioned, it's uncertain right now. An E-mount lens would be quite unexpected but welcome for many.

Well, CP+ is only about a week away and our man in Japan is sure to update as soon as anything is announced.

I use mine daily and there is no patina showing anywhere yet.

No patina? Let Lenny Kravitz use it for a day or two.

Funny . . . I'm surprised you didn't get on my case for how it was parked! It was sitting there being lit by the parking lot lights. I couldn't NOT take a shot.

I just assumed you left it like that as you were making a mad dash to get stuff before your wife woke up.

I correctly speculated that the surprise announcement before CP+ might involve a new E-mount lens.
We could expect more announcements during the event next week. Any guesses?

As I previously speculated, if VM: 24/25mm and/or a fast 90.

For other mounts, 35 and/or 50 APO for Canon RF. I wonder if they would bother porting the 21/1.4 to Z and RF as that's an unaddressed niche, particularly for Canon users.

I believe Sony users want a fast 28 but wondering if such an announcement would be too soon after the VM release? IMO for mirrorless a 28/2 APO would be more interesting where size constraints for M are no longer a restriction.

Along this line I'd like to see what Cosina could do for a fast 'character' 35 or 50 designed to fully take advantage of mirrorless mounts. It would ideally greatly reduce optical/mechanical vignetting for more even across-frame bokeh/rendering performance, which currently is not that easy to find at wider focal lengths (I do love my Canon RF 28-70/2 for this reason, among others - but it's simply huge, too).

Leica managed to produce a compact 35mm f/2 APO lens, and I'm confident that Cosina is taking notes. Perhaps a more compact CV 35/2 APO-Lanthar M-mount could be a possibility in the future. However, I think that designing a compact 28mm APO presents a lot of complexity, and I agree that it makes more sense for mirrorless systems than for the M series, where rangefinder shooters are sensitive to long lenses obstructing their view.

I would love to see a CV 90/2 APO-Lanthar more compact than the Leica's 90AA.

I hope Voigtlander doesn't try to make the 35 APO too small if they revisit it. The Leica 35 APO is reportedly extremely difficult to assemble, and many copies are made that are not well centered, including the one copy that I tried.

Really enjoying this lens so far. Type1 in black chrome arrived swiftly from CameraQuest. Here are a few samples from the lens on film. These are all shot on Kodak Vision3 50D mostly wide open or close to it.

I am very surprised about the background separation in those environmental portrait shots of the last shots - this is way more than I had with the Sony 28mm F2 which I sold...

Wow, this lens is seriously impressive. The size and price of the 28/1.4 Summilux always put it out of the question for me, now I'm considering if this should be my first, ah, modern lens for a future M10.

I was really impressed by it. In fact, it even replaced my 28/1.4 Lux. Since I was used to the performance and rendering of the 28/1.4 Lux, I have to admit that I can achieve similar results with a much smaller and lighter lens. Plus, it's a good-looking lens too.

Some with the SL2 edited to taste. There's clearly some colourcast occurring in some photos and purple fringing as well but overall a lens to like
